Intro to V8 Supercars

Note from TM - Im going to have to agree with Adriano below me, at least to some degree. I am sad to see the complete disregard for the policies and the lack or "road-sharing" by many of the participants. I can promise you all, that you WILL follow the regulations or you WONT be racing at Race2Play.

Marked Course
The "marked course" or "racing surface" is defined by the asphalt or concrete between the two painted lines. Anything outside those lines is considered off-course (this includes curbing). You are allowed to drive no more then two wheels off-course at any time.

Off-course Excursions
The competitor is required to follow the marked course during the competition and shall not gain an advantage by an off-course excursion. An off-course excursion is defined as leaving the marked course with all four wheels. The definition of the term "advantage gained" will be left up to the sole discretion of the Race Steward(s), and may include pass attempts that were completed, but the overtaking driver went four-wheels-off on the exit, and it was deemed to be an otherwise "ill-fated" pass (i.e. the Zanardi maneuver").

Re-joining the track after a spin
No driver may rejoin the track until all traffic has passed and your car is facing the exact racing direction. Any accidents caused by a driver using the racing surface as a place to make a U-turn is strongly frowned upon.

Wow. It seems like about half of you completely switch off when the light goes green. That was some of the worst driving I've ever seen. I got completely clouted twice and pushed aside and punted probably another half dozen times. I hope the replay gets reviewed and some penalties handed out. That was ridiculous.

i made a mistake when forming up at the tail end of the grid. took the final corner on the inside assuming the field was further on.. then stalled the car finding reverse after seeing my grid position on the opposite side behind me! sorry to everybody at the back of the grid, hope t1 went better :O)

Well I had a fun race. Qual 10th and got a good start, until turn 2 when there was a wee tap from behind. Spent a lot of the race chasing and being chased.

Thanks to the back markers who got out of my way quite quickly too. Shame more people didn't turn up though, considering how many people were registered and waiting.

Still got hit by my 1fps bug - only happens with online racing, never with just AI (even with more cars on track)and only happens once during a race with R2P. Really weird. Luckily it happened on the back straight so I just slowed down till she came normal, losing only 1 spot.

I had a few minor off track excursions, but it was a result of me getting it all wrong,not intentionally trying to gain an advantage. Once I got the chicane wrong and ended up cutting it so I slowed down a little and let the guy I was racing with get back in front of me and continued on from there.The other times I went wide in corners I carried a little too much speed into.
Where I was in mid pack was nothing but good hard clean racing and alot of fun.I look forward to the next one.

Red Weasel Racing Reports

WOW! Another great race goes down in the books. The Head Weasel was mixing it up with that Full Metal Squirrel Ced Collins for more then a handful of laps changing position by our back and forth list of on track errors, advantage to the Weasel. Then on to a late race battle for position with Jason Whitehead our tête-à-tête was stimulated by Ted Mannes (running 12th at the time) was in the middle of a battle that included some rubbin', some bumping, and a punt. Lots of bent sheet metal on my left front and I think I had several degrees of toe-out added to that wheel.

The Weasel Wench (formally known as "Wrench Wench") soldiered on going through tyres like the way Elizabeth Taylor goes through husbands. She finished the race respectfully.

So, as the Red Weasel Racing WPS Ford Falcons are loaded onto the transports the team celebrates with two (Yes, that's right TWO) beers and a pack of those airline peanuts, you know the ones...little pack takes you five minutes to open to only find three.

Race the Weasel

Tim - I watched the first 10 laps of the race replay and appeared many (including me) did the "off course" concerning the use of the curbing.

Given that - what would be penalties be for such an infraction? Wonder what the results of the race would be if Tim where to impose all penalties? Would enjoy seeing that.

Otherwise - a lousy race in these nasty cars.

I started this race with the hopes of a finish around 15th or better. You'd think that I would have learned by now to not be so optimistic...

I started at the back, as is my custom. I was in a solid 20th place by the time my old nemesis, the pit stop sequence, arrived. I spent an extra lap out on the track before the pit stop, with the thought that everyone else would be done and gone. Not so. There were two cars ahead of me, and the lead car was going the pit speed limit way, way before he needed to.

A note: you might want to run the track online, or with full rules, prior to the race and learn where the pit speed limit is enforced. It could save you some track position.

Anyway, I hit the designated speed limiter button on my Momo some even number of times, thus turning it on, and ultimately...turning it off. I was caught speeding on pit road, and had to serve a 10 second stop-and-go penalty. I finally came out of the pit sequence and the extra-curricular activities in 25th or so.

I made my way up to James and Jason as they were battling. I ended up hitting James after he and Jason got together. Sorry about that James. I really don't like to hit someone, but there was nowhere for me to go. I was able to make it by both of them after the contact, and ended up finishing 21st.

I think I was one of the people who made contact with Adriano late in the event. He braked very sharply for T1 and because I was trying to set him up for a pass, we made contact. It certainly was not deliberate and I don't appreciate being called an "a-----e" because of it. Not a very good way to make his first appearance in a TPTCC event if you ask me. Regarding the overall conduct of the race, I thought it looked like a typical Aussie Supercars event. Yes there was contact, I got tapped around pretty good all through the race and I don't have a single complaint about any of it. It was a tight course and sometimes that's the way you had to finish a pass. Just like in real life. Regarding off-course adventures, I got outside the lines a few times, either to avoid contact with other drivers or simply because I screwed up. One time I *could* have gained an advantage from it but I immediately sllowed the car beside me pull back ahead so it all came out even -- no harm no foul. People habitually cutting the track to gain time deserve penalty, but I didn't see anything remotely resembling that today.
I owe huge thanks to my teammate Gregg for helping me out last night when I was just completely lost. I've had a busy week and prior to about 1 o'clock this morning, I had virtually no laps. But Gregg sent me some good setups and helped me to find my way around when I was stuck at about 2: 15 laptimes and after that, it was all a matter of getting enough laps to know the track. There was great racing all through the event today but special mention goes Lucky and the terrific duel we had. The picture I posted was of a double-pass right at the end of the race. I'd left the door open for him entering the turn and he got ahead. Then he went wide on the exit and I got back by him on the exit. All with no contact at all.
I will admit that I didn't think this was going to be a very good race. I didn't think that these cars matched up well with this track, but so long as the people involved paid attention and didn't mind a little paint-swapping, it was a blast! I still like the faster tracks better, but this wasn't half-bad.

I dont' think you will have to worry about being called an asshole Paul moving forward.

I may have had technical difficulties which prevented me from taking the flag although I still see the races and server chat logs.

Comments like calling drivers assholes after the race will not be tolerated at TPTCC events. Drivers engaging in that behavior will be prevented from joining future TPTCC events once the season starts.
