Brno GTP/S

Well that was kinda a mess out there, lots of incidents.

I must say, I think there has to me more serious penalties for incidents on the first corner. Far to many times I see someone trying to win the race there. Today, a GT Pro car that started near the rear decided to try and pass everyone on the first corner. He barely missed me, then managed to take two cars out in front of me... That was pretty weak man.

With that off my chest, I'd like to congratulate all of the podium finishers in the series and thank all of the racers for a very fun series. I'm very happy to have finished 2nd in my class for my first season here at R2P and my first season ever. Looking forward to many more great races and series here at R2P!

Apologies to Matt, who I ran into during the race. I dont often get to overtake during a race, and I think I had a rush of blood to the head when I encountered you. Sorry.

Quite good race for me. I was eager about our GT race, because one hour before the race I came back from the Brno circuit with the WTCC races. Unfortunately I had one contact in firts lap in first corner and since then I had a bad shock absorbers, and therefore the last 20 minutes were a my tires lot of damaged. Therefore, I want to apologize NGT drivers for my bad overtaking at the end of the race.

Weather was tough in qualify with wet track. I could improve my lap by far but I just couldn't get a clean lap in so I took second.

Start was pretty close, perhaps I could take the lead again if I managed a start like the one at Magny Cours. I managed to stay close to Ari the first half of the race and then I was coming closer and closer. I had a chance or two but it would be too risky, however I think I gave Ari a run for his money which is good to know. He's usually much faster than me on this track, judging from our previous events here.

Anyways, two records and one win I managed yesterday are more than I would even want.

Really looking forward to the next season of GTP/S, particulary battling with Ari. Grats on the win, great job Pete too again!

Apologies to Saul for the contact. It all got a bit chaotic there with a couple of recovering GT-P cars and I didn't lift early enough on cold brakes.
Did my drive-thru, then had a lot of fun recovering lost ground. Great battle with Brian for most of the second half until he ran a little wide a couple of laps from the end. Nice driving, mate.
Looked like Ari & Joco had a lot of fun up front, too.

Quali: Normally run well in the wet but had a complete disaster, spinning on every lap. Started 2nd last in class!

Race: Had a brilliant start off the line, made 3 or 4 places before t1. By the end of the lap, i was 1st in class admittedly helped by Pete and Sual's's incident (sorry for the slight door on door tap Matt, i did stay tight in corner). Pushed on with the intention i wasnt going to stop for tyres in the race but knew i would more than likely have to because the corvette's tyre wear was high but wasnt sure if anyone else would have to stop for tyres or not.

By half race Pete had caught me up (after his drive thru on lap 1) and didnt take long to pass, my tyres by then were shagged. Got my 1st tyre warning just after so i pitted. Surprisingly as i finished my outlap i saw Pete had pitted too and i managed to pass him as he was exiting pit lane.

We had a decent battle for the next 10 laps or so, Undoubtedly Pete was a lot quicker but i was running a low wing and had good speed down the straights giving pete little chance at the next corner. I was started to believe i could hold Pete off for the remaining 3 laps even though my tyres again were knackered but coming up to T6 i down shifted from 3rd to 2 gear but it multi shifted (thought i had sorted out this proble with my wheel :() and put me in neutral which gave Pete enough space to get by. Gutted, a bad way to lose 1st pos.

Enjoyed that Pete, always good racing against you as you are very fast but patient and race fair.

Practice: I switched cars at the last minute because the Gumpert was feeling a bit loose on the last sector, so I contacted a few guys at the Aston Martin shop and they provided one fast AM for me just in time for qualy... :)

Qualifying: I had already a dry-setup for this track for the AM, but I remember I was about 3 secs. off-pace, so made a few tweaks to the car (more R-Wing), and the car just felt very good in the corners. I felt pretty good for a Dry-Q, but when I went out, I did not notice the track conditions and I went out on "Slicks"... It was very slippery, so it took me almost 2 minutes to get back to pits, raise the car, maxed out on R-Wing and soften up the springs, so I went out again with 5 mins. to go... I took it easy on the 1st. lap, and on the second one I was in 3rd. place, on my 3rd. & final lap I was half a second faster, but with 3 corners 'til S/F line the server changed sessions, oh! whata bummer! :D The time was good for Pole, but too bad, because I did not complete the last lap...Congrats to Ari and Joco...

Race: Not my best start, I actually started slow and was heavy on fuel, about 3-4 cars passed and then I saw the blue Gumpert crashing heavily a driver in front of me, managed to pass the Gumpert, and Mr. Pete Bunce was on the left side, so aproaching T-1, I gave him enough room... At 1st. I thought he (Pete Bunce) was the one responsible for the punt that took me off track, but after watching the replay it was the blue Gumpert, which actually hit Sir Pete, and the Pete's car hit mine, which resulted in me going off track and loosing 11 positions back to 18 out of 19. Oh boy! I was like, Oh no you didn't! No you didn't!!! So, I got back on track and I started pushing really hard, one-by-one I started passing drivers, finally after 35 mins or so I was already in 5th. place and I was reeling in Aaron Jackson & my teamm8 Claudiu... I knew I could catch them, but passing was going to be a lot tougher to do, but I did... Actually I passed both of them on the front straight, both very clean passes... I enjoyed the race a lot, all the GT/S cars were very good while I was making the passes, but I was not happy with the blue Gumpert, because it did not do a D/T after all the crashes he created...Anyways, it was fun coming all the way from the back to 3rd. place and no pitstops!!! All season I wasn't sure tires would last all the race, but they actually did in this last one. This race reminded me of the Anderstop race a season or 2 ago, where I was punted off track in T-2, all the way to the back and I managed to get also a Top 3.

Congrats Ari for the win & Joco for the 2nd. place! And Congratulations to Scuderia Internazionale for the GT-P Championship! ;)
