rFBMW: Mexico #2

Was starting 4th and made a great start to edge between Nick and Soco before the pace evened out with Liam just to my front right. Then I got a sudden sideswipe down the main straight from Soco i think and I just managed to hang onto it with a couple of wheel on the grass without spinning infront of the pack, really that was a pretty dangerous thing to do mate, and then Soco hit Liam in Turn 1 and span, I clipped him and had to run over the grass with Nick. managed to have a fairly decent battle around 5-7th for a while. Then Dan made a pass on me into turn 1 and I got hit again, this time Dino outbraked himself and spun me around (and I saw you did DT Dino so no probs), anyway as I spun, Buhin had nowhere to go and we collided unluckily. I was now damaged up again and into Turn 1 on the next lap found out how much as I touched the brake and car snapped right, i made sure i turned off track more to avoid the other 2 guys around me and in doing so i smacked the wall and lost my nose. after that i crawled to the finish with my steering at 45 degrees. A bad nights races for me!

Much better race for me than race 1, had some good fights along the way but after damaging the car had to hang on and hope for the best.

Awesome set of results for Pin/Evo guys, and therefore we obviously had to sign up the guy who beat us :-]

Great race for me in this one. Started 9th again and after some 'adventerous' moves in T1 by some drivers, the race settled down.

Had a great battle with my teamie Rob is final stages. Side by side through the last corner on the last two laps and managed to just hold him off. Great fun.

It was way too crowded for my taste at the front. Liam swerved left and right to cover for position and while I was trying to figure out how to get past I was too late on the brakes. I knew it didnt feel right to be that far at the front :)

Race over on lap one.

As soon as I found out I'd be starting first I knew I'd drop positions.

I used the little time in warmup to get a half decent setup together, and managed to get it feeling good.

Dan Bailey sent me his though, and it felt so much better. The only problem was, I was running out of revs in 6th on the straights and a few guys breezed past.

The start was mad, I knew the Pinnacles would come charging along as soon as they could so I just concentrated on holding her together.
Which I didn't!

I don't often spin these, and I did tonight. Twice. One of them ended a great battle with Zak for a good top ten position. It was getting a bit rough so I tried to back off, but the bumps were throwing me into you Zak :P

Obviously an hour's hard Panoz driving doesn't help your open wheeler skill!

Having learnt the track during race 1, I felt more confident for race 2.

Enjoying a battle for 16th, when I ran wide out of Paraltada(sp) and clouted the tyre barrier. Had a 139s stop and then spun leaving Michael Virt nowhere to go (really sorry bud).

Decided to park it at the point.

Roll on better things next time out.

I was more confident for the second race, with my first race in months under my belt and some laps in with race fuel. I missed the lights off the start and watched Dan rocket off, but the first few corners went well and I was up 3 or 4 places by the 5th corner. Someone had some trouble there, you can see it in Jack's screen with the flying Zak. I was forced off to the left, right where I spun in the first race and barely tapped the wall, but I had lost all that I had gained. The car felt a little weird, and slow, but it wasn't until the beginning of the next lap that I realized my mistake. I had not selected my setup, and was still running default. I was maxing out over 10km/h slower than usual. Some of you may have noticed when racing that I seemed to run out of speed on the main straight. I made up some places despite the lack of speed or grip, but got pushed off the track again a lap or so later. From there on I just pushed way too hard trying to make up speed in different places, but the default setup wasn't having it. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if was using it from the beginning, but it felt alien after using my own for so long.

Anyway, I managed to spin out later in the race and decided to get off the track. After that I just watched Dan chase down the leaders on the monitor. That was some crazy racing, half the time the 3 cars looked like they were attached.
