rFBMW: Suzuka #2

That was great fun - all went very carefully around lap 1 and i managed to get around Zak and Justin at the last turn when they both had minor off's. Got another couple of positions and thought i had the win in my grasp, but then had a disastrous bit of lag that dropped me down 8 seconds so had to fight my way up again and just didn't have enough time to try to get Zak.

I wouldnt have called that a minor off Jack. Had a slide going coming out of 180R on the runoff area. Very scary moment. Glad that the race wasnt another lap longer or Jack would have got me. Glad to have won that one.

Haha, yeah it did look pretty scary on the replay. at the time i was focusing on Justin ahead and trying to avoid where he might be spinning to :P

After the grid reverse i started 3rd, the air is much thinner at this end of the grid and after the Nurburgring race I hoped to do better - and I did - twice as good. After a decent start held position until degna 1 when i took too much curb with faster cars to the outside and span to the infield. Which was four corners later than in Germany when things went awry by T4.

Dropped to the back and tried to salvage a decent result but the overall race pace was faster so catching other cars took longer, and with the majority of the field being quicker progress was minimal. Had an off at Dunlop but avoided the barrier so only a time loss, and managed a 13th place finish which wasn't too bad given the lap one off and a lack of pace.

This one was a little more interesting. Had a little too much wheelspin off the start, but it turned out ok, still had my position through most of the lap.

The fast left hander after spoon was still a problem for me with another driver around, I nearly ended myself and a couple others there on the first lap.

Really that was the name of the game in the second race. I actually pushed harder and went faster in that race, but unlike the other podium members from the first race I don't yet have the skill to weave through opponents like they do. Passing someone on the outside of Dunlop while following Zak was fun, especially since a good 30% of my setup time probably went into getting just that corner right.

When racing other people I would normally catch them fine, but then have trouble passing them, destroying tires and lap times in one stroke. I actually had a chance for 5th gaining 4 or 5 seconds on rob over 3 of the last 4 laps, but on the last lap as I was pulling up behind him I started short shifting under the bridge. After the hairpin I was just nursing it and had to let Janos by on the straight. Crossed the line with 0/0 fuel and massive sputtering despite using the same fuel as the first race.

One driver from race 2 will serve a drive thru penalty for not taking a drive thru after a punt.
