V8-Euro Bathurst

s/b in prerace posting.. someone had a major cockup on the formation lap and my race ended on the back straight before the grid--gave a lot of space toward the front but couldn't avoid the flotsam, engine gone. was looking forward to this one too, there goes my already pathetic rating :o( damn x3

Sorry Greg, I was the one who hit you at the formation lap. I'm really sorry that it ended your race so early. This is not what I'm used of an formation lap, the speeds were way to high. Guys in the front should know that this braking and acceleration is multiplied by 3 at the back of the field. You shouldn't go faster then 120 kph at the formation lap, but that's my opinion. In order to close the gap to the field I had to go above 200 kph at the back straight, but after the hill everyone suddenly stood still. There was no room for avoiding this accident. Perhaps I've should been more cautious, sorry Greg.

Don't have much to say: had some incidents in the race but they didn't affect on car's driveability much, I just was slow as usual. Had close battles with Joco and Ben in the last laps - Ben was a lot quicker but didn't find place to pass. Had a closer contact with Joco halfway in the race. You have any idea what Ford doors cost, mister? LOL

It's been a great season with these cars.

A good race, great cars on awesome track. Started good and got one position but lost some places in the pits because of the damage.

Nice race.
I was just outside the top 10 at one point :) but felt I was holding people up so let em past and then I nurfed it into the wall!!(silly boy) Had to make a very long last stint as I had to pit early for repairs.
Grats to the Championship winners and runners up. It's been a good series and I'll definately try to make the next one.

I am totally frustrated by my piss-poor result. I was leading handily and after my first stop I came out behind a much slower car and was forced to slow my pace drastically. I thought I made a terrible pass and allowed him back through only to be balked again all the way through the mountain. I had to slam on my brakes and this caused me a huge amount of damage and the car was undrivable. I gave room to Bas and Roger on the first lap as they both got good runs on me and I passed them when they made little errors on track.

I don't quite understand the need of some guys to defend an inherited position they are just going to lose when they make their pitstop. I understand racing for position but knowing you are going to drop 40 seconds as soon as you enter the pits means the battle is misleading at best. You would be much quicker if you allowed the faster car by and followed him until your pitstop instead of battling for 1 or 2 laps.

Another aside; There should be some sort of ping limit that we all must adhere to as one driver was over 300 and jumping all over the track. More than once his car floated right into mine.

Well my fifth race with race2play and I continue to be impressed with the service and fellow drivers. Had a great start and was surprised to find myself in 3rd place and averaging about 2 seconds faster than my pb after the first round of pitstops.

Back on the track I had a great battle with Rogier and he pitted the lap before me after being right on my tail. I was determined to come out in front but got a drive through
penalty for speeding in the end.

Came out 8th behind Johan and had another great battle he came out in front after a final corner where perhaps i should of been more forceful. Still great race and grats to all.

The record still stands? I'm shocked, to say the least.

Wow, at the end after some up and down during season I gained a win on Bathurst, thats great.
But I must say I had a lot of lucky in this event and avoid some crashes around me with minor damage.
And I used my old wheel with lower FF ability that forcing me to drive cautiously and that maybe was the key factor of succes in this race.

I would like to apologise to Richard.I was slow in the 1st half of the race[got out of bed at 4.30am,just sec away from qual].It was unsportsmanlike and unforgivable to hold Richard up when he came out of the pits.I was surprised when he pulled over on mountain straight,i thought he had a problem.I have never done anything like that before and never will again.About the ping problem,i have a good adsl connection and from my end,i didn't realise anything was amiss.Most likely being a million miles from the server doesn't help.
