rFBMW: Sugo #2

The reverse grid saw me fourth, which became third by turn one. I got Ryan at the end of the long straight when he had some controller issues. Yet again, I had some fast lads on my rear snapping to get by.

Not sure why, but despite being the same setup, the car felt odd. Maybe it was me, maybe it was just a sign that people had improved while I had stayed still between the first race. Regardless, where I felt I was safe, I was no longer.

Got a bit hectic going three wide with Dan and Tomislav for the lead, which we all survived. Was worried when my wheel just nudged the grass, given how sticky it was.

Dan got me down the home straight, followed by James a few laps later. I tailed the lads, watching them go toe-to-toe. James lost it out of the last corner as I got a run on Dan heading up the home straight.

Battled wheel to wheel with Dan. He took to the inside, so I ran it around the outside. Managed to keep the mometeum going and just squeezed ahead as we exited the first section of corners. My rears touched with his fronts, causing a bit of wiggle but she held.

Prepared myself for an onslaught, but Dan had a spin a lap later ending that possibility. Dropping around nine seconds, I knew all I had to do was keep her on the road.

Will hold my hand up and say that I wasn't on it after that. With a safe gap, I was mindful of what happened in race one so wasn't on it at every corner. The gap decreased as the laps winded down but I knew I was well safe. Chalk up my third R2P victory!

Desperate night to forget for me, nearly turned it over in Race 2 and that was the highlight.

Second race saw me behind Cristiano Gomez once more on the run down to turn one. I saw he got knocked offline a little when he got a touch on his right rear. anyway he mustve lifted momenarily as I nudged him from behind. It didnt look like it had affected him though but a few yards later and he seemed to go staight on at the turn so I guess my touch did have an affect after all. I didnt want to take any chances so thought the sensible thing would be to take a drive through which I did at the end of the lap. That kind of put me out of touch of the race but I would much rather finish way down the field than have a DQ on my record! As a relative newbie still, I feel I am settling down a bit more and I am becoming much more comfortable racing you guys on track. Still a bit of a tail end charlie but Im having fun and thats what its all about.

An admirable approach to be commended Stewart. I have not seen the incident yet but sounds more than fair.

As highlighted by the R2P Official's blog, why risk losing a lap under such circumstances where a D/T is a lot less.

When I first started Stewart I wasn't even fast enough to race 2nd last. Now I can get somewhere from middle down to the tail end & some of my most enjoyable races are racing for 19th or 20th as long as your enjoying it the pace will slowly come.

POST RACE REVIEW

1 driver penalised 2 laps for 2 punts on the first lap and no drive thru.

1 driver penalised a lap for not giving racing room causing an avoidable accident.
