V8-West Monza

I don't know why I have never raced these. These cars are really fun to drive.....and a plus is the V8 engine sound turned up real loud. In the immortal words of the governator "I'll be baa-ck!"

Congrats to Johnathan on a dominant win. I got a decent start but being on the outside killed any chance of getting to T1 first so I just backed out slightly to allow John to make it through cleanly. Thats when my bad race began. I just wasn't concentrating and kept missing brake zones,running wide, apexing early and generally making mistake after mistake. About lap 4 I got a Steward's warning for white line infractions and deservedly so. I must have made 20 mistakes in the first couple of laps alone.

I decided to just slow down and stay between the lines and run a lot slower to solidify my 2nd place in the race and for the team championship. This is my absolute worst performance in the V8's and I was lucky to get a podium from it.

Well done Barry on your 3rd place it looked like your back to back stops finally paid off.

Enjoyed that race.Qualified 5th,but bogged down at the start and lost 2 places.This put me behind Tommy and i was very careful here as i did not want to add to his list of punters.So when things settled after lap 1,i was a few secs behind Tommy and really could not bridge the gap.I went with back to back pitstops again and this time i nailed them.When the guys did their final pitstops,Dmitry exited the pits as i was coming down pit straight.I thought i might make the turn before him but evenyually had to concede.We ran close for a couple of laps before i managed to get past and then noticed Jarrod closing.At the start of the last lap,i'm thinking,i won't be able to hold him out,but he made a couple of mistakes that let me off the hook.Great racing all.

Also to Richard and Barry for their podium finishes (age doesn't seem to bother Barry like it does me). Maybe I need to take more prune juice before the race! 8O

I had another great start, If my race pace was as good as my starts, I'd be able to run a little higher up the pack.

From my 11th grid position, I passed 3 cars on the approach to the 1st chicane (off the line, not under braking). I was very impressed with how everybody was so cautious going through Rettifilo Tribune, real clean! : )

After Omar passed me going into Roggia, I was able to hold onto 8the place with Bert Owens always in my mirrors. I'd run as fast as I dared trying to get a little cushion on Bert, but he would always manage to get uncomfortably close again.

This went on until lap 21 when I made a big slip exiting the 2nd Lesmo. Not wanting a repeat of the previous weeks F1 race where I nearly took TM out at that very spot, I took my time getting back on track which gave Bert all the time he needed to get by me.

After seeing I wasn't going to be able to keep up with Bert, I just settled in on making sure I made no more mistakes and finish with an intact car for a change.

This was a very fun race and can hardly wait for the next V8 race. I don't know what the attraction is for these beasts, but I'm having a blast with these cars and have pretty much lost all interest in the GT cars for now.

Had a great car, I had a great setup wich allowed me to drift :o ...lol... Had 2 spins again, but managed to come back from 12 or so and finish in the top 10... After the 1st. pitstop, I was very confident and putting some fast laps, of course, on my time...not Alien time... :)...
