Intro to German Touring Car

Well, nuts. I qualified third behind Sam and Tommy and was running third for the whole first stint. I planned on making both of my stops around lap 15. I caught some traffic around then, so I made my stops on 14 and 16. I came out in 7th with everyone needing another stop and was starting to do a few quick laps on new tires when I managed to stuff it into the wall after the chicane. Haven't done that in a long time. Clearly not my week. Awesome race between Tommy and Sam. Grats to everyone. Good driving out there.

Great race! Qualy'd 5th, my first top 5. Pretty much stayed here for the entire race. I didn't have any battles until after my 2nd pit stop when I came out 6th and caught 5th a couple of laps later. Duked it out for 8 or 9 laps, passed - repassed a couple of times. I got snookered with the over under manouever when I outbraked 5th in the hairpin. A few bumps later and I'm back in 6th. Not a complaint (because I missed it a couple of times myself), but I kept loosing time when 5th cut the chicane after the hairpin almost every lap. Took the rest of the lap to catch back up. Still a great battle!

EDIT: Tom - Check the replay, maybe I'm wrong but I had a pretty view of the back of your car even though I was trying to catch a view of the front!!!:-)

I am extremely proud to have operated that race under the Race2Play / NASA banner! You guys were awesome, each and every one of you. I couldn't have asked for a better performance from anyone in that event.

Well, couldn't get a clean lap in qualifying, so ended up starting 4th. The first part of the race was a little bit frustrating, as I was quicker than Adriano, but I couldn't find a way past him. I ended up having a minor off trying to catch him. Then came the pitstops. In the first, I accidently left the fuel to fill me up to 65L, and instead of taking no rear tyres, I accidently changed them to softs! That meant my second stint was a bit slower, and the rears were going away rather quickly. At the second stop, I managed to change only the rears, but I still didn't realise that I was being refueled every time. In the end I finished 5th, but I should've been closer to 4th and 3rd if I didn't lose 30-odd seconds on the pitstops. :S

EDIT: Garret, what do you mean I cut the chicane after the hairpin? Pretty sure I kept two wheels on every time, but you're meant to use the whole road there to get through quickly.

Well i had a blast for my first time racing GTR2 here. Had a great battle going with 8th place until lap 32 my pc decided it would lockup.All and all was a great race for me clean and curtoius.

My race was a mixed bag. I just couldn't get the setup right in the practice session so I just went with the default. Not good, but better than what I was messing with. Qualied for 16th.

The first few laps were not good, car sliding loose all over the place. Then on one off track excursion the car got stuck in one of the openings in the wall, took nearly 10 seconds to get it out and back on the track. I pitted after that, way early, and ended up in last place. I managed to work my way back up to 14th for a bit, then the rest of the race was on and off battles between 14th - 16th places.

In the last 3 laps I got tires worn warning twice, no way was I gonna get fresh tires, not with the car I just passed for 15th right on my bumper.

I know I bumped a couple guys but those were just race incidents. Nothing much but they did cause at least one of the guys to spin (he didn't accelerate out of the corner as quickly as I did, and I bumped him).

Overall a very fun race. Congrats to the winners.

Just a question Tom Studans, when you were behind me on qual, were you on your outlap ?

Bad race for me. Could not qualify better than 13. Yet again had a very good start and gained three places. Were doing well passing more cars and when heading for taking 6 place I ran wide at the end of the long straight and spun the car, I lost 4 places and was back to 10. When trying to catch the pack I completely lost it on the hairpin, end of race :o(

So close... I was headed for my first top ten finish (8th) when I ran out of fuel three turns from the finish line. I even gave myself a 3 or 4 lap buffer in the fuel calculation at the beginning of the race, but I guess it wasn't quite enough. Thanks to Ryan A. for pushing me to the finish after the race so I didn't DNF!

My first here at race 2 play, very encouraging. Did most of my passing by taking early pit stops, or hanging back and waiting for them spinout. Had a great chase behind somebody for 5-6 laps. Good times... See you on the track again soon.
