Intro to Formula-3 (Feature)

Not too shabby. Ran a pretty clean race with some nice close driving in the opening laps before everything spread out.

Well I went to Tim's Essington setup to try to get this car settled at the back and it was loads better than I have had before on these cars.

Had a horrible qual as I made some changes to try to add speed but the car was unnerving in the corners which led me to not push hard and I was 1.5 slower than I should.

Starting 11th going into the 1st corner scared me. I though I'd get caught up in the proverbial 1st turn crash. But somehow I ended up 6th by turn 3 as I went in underneath everyone and didnt slide.

I caught Shackleton after 5 hard laps and we had a fight passing each other 4-5 times till I caught a lapped car leading up to the wicked downhill left. He came out of the previous corner hard and blocked me so I basically had to sit behind him as Shackleton and Barclay were coming at full speed and blew by me on the exit.

Couldnt catch them and settled for a lame 6th. Not bad coming from 11th but 4th was possible.

Fun but wanted to keep dicing

This was a fun event with a great bunch of racers. Our team is just "learning the ropes" of open wheel and this event was a great start for us. My apology's to anyone caught in the spinning mishap of my unmanned car. It seems a software download installed a update manager and the thing launched while I was going down the tri-oval. My screen crashed to the desktop but I could hear my car still running. I attempted to put it up against were I thought the wall might be and hold it there. By time I got back to the race screen my car lay in the infield with the back axle tore out. I'm not sure if anyone got tangled up in my mess; if so many apology's. All in all though I really enjoyed the event. There was a lot of good racing throughout the field.

I was watching that Bill and wondering how you wrecked the car in that spot. You have cleared it up for me.

By the way, it was a single-car wreck... you did good :)

Fun racing! Very clean and sporting from my point of view. This is the main reason I came to race2play for my first (organized) rFactor online race. The events Tim puts on are always first class. Thanks Tim! and all the F3 drivers last night!
I only just decided to try these cars Tuesday after I signed up to race. I read 1.16's were the target but could only manage a 1.18 in the handful of offline laps I did (I really can't stand running solo or against the AI). I need that me vs other humans to get 'into it' so I came into last night not very prepared at all...in fact I spent most of my practice time fiddling with wheel sensitivity, force settings etc etc just trying to get comfortable while staying out of the way.
Quallied a surprise 6th with a 1.17 something...I would have preferred starting at the back just cause I'm a noob and didn't want to cause any problems. Luckily I didn't (I don't think) and was just trying to turn laps and get some seat time. Mid way through the race I started thinking about some setup changes...it seemed the tires were going off, the car became very oversteery...and this caused me to lose concentration and stuffed it in the wall minus left front suspension :o
At least I gained some much needed experience for the sprint race.

I was quite surprised to see how fast I was here, quite frankly. However, several folks were also in the 16's and some (Dmitry, for example) were in the low 16's. In qual I battled it out with Dmitry, but edged him out by a few hundredths on my last lap with a 16.0, my best lap yet.

Got a decent start and held the lead into T1. I got pressure from Dmitry, but I eventually put a bit of a gap between us and I guess in the last few laps his tires were going away and I opened up the gap to about 8 seconds or so. I was quite proud to take the checkered since I normally don't do so well in open wheeled cars. :)

Great and considerate racing on everyone's part. I love this place! :)

I had another great time. These events are first class, as word gets out every event here is going to be filled up the day signups open.

I picked up a whole bunch of spots but only one was earned (passing Larry Anderson on the outside), all the others came thru attrition. I really struggled with the setup here, I messed around with wings and gearing, whenever I got good speed on the oval the car was uncontrollable thru the road course, whenever I had good control thru the road course I could only get up to 155 on the oval. I need to get a book on setups :)

I managed to reach 427 mph on the oval during my fastest lap.

Wow! Looks like I was way slower than I thought! :)

I was signed up for this race and very much looking forward to my first race here and then my cable goes out at 5 in the afternoon and was out for almost 24 hours. Looks like I would have had a shot at a decent run somewhere in the middle of the pack. Thanks alot Charter. Oh well, hope I can catch ya'll next time.
