Putnam Park GT2

Wow, that was an absolutely horrible race!

I have to say, I really detest this track. Just didn't hook up at all. I haven't gotten this car right on circuits with sweeping corners, as I felt similarly around Phillip Island last month.

Lacked confidence through the corners and things just ended in a mess. Feel like I made more errors today than in my short R2P career!

It eventually became a case of surviving out there. Started all going south when I was trying to let Rob Northway get a clean run on me into turn one... ended up skipping off the road. From there, I spent most of the race around with Allan Cotton, where we decided to play a game of 'who could spin the most times.'

He won, just about!

Coming home in 11th felt like a triumph, probably more than I deserved out there.

Excellent start and is struggling with 8 places to 6.Next round the first corner in second car recklessly attack me in my right side and lose control and fly off the track.
After that the car is no longer behave as expected.Since the drive for the first time this mode and with all these problems yet, and i passed an.Yes, now I know that tires should be on the next race, he, he ...

Well what can I say?, you win some, you loose some.

I do like Putnam a lot but it seems I'm in the minority over that hehe so I was looking forward to this. Had some good pace but Jeff and James where never far away.

Qual was going to be tough on this tight track as it hard to find clean air. Tried my best but I always ran into some traffic. In the final lap I did get that clear track but the tyres had lost that brand new grip by now and while it was my fastest lap it wasn't fast enough to Knock James of pole.

The start was going to be interesting as it would be the first time for me to do a standing start in these (stupidly I never practiced them). The lights went green and I got away okish, not great but good enough. JAmes had a flyer though and so did Maciej in his Spyker in 3rd. He pulled along side me on the run down to the first turn but he had that al important inside line. I braked as late as I dared hoping he would brake a little earlier but he didn't so I had to slot in behind and drop to 3rd with Jeff right behind in 4th.

Anything could have happened in this race, so 3rd wasn't the end of the world but it wasn't going to be easy if the guys ahead stayed on track. Starting lap 2 and I had to go defensive down the start straight as Jeff got a great run out of the final turn luckily it paid off this time and I was able to keep him at bay. Sadly later that lap Maceij and James had contact which sent them both off which gifted me the lead. So now with clean air ahead I pushed to try and gap Jeff, but I only managed to get a couple of seconds if that.

Lap 9 or 10 and we started to get into the lapped traffic, and that's when I starated to think that running 1st probably wasn't ideal now. Luckily though the guys where great, and did a great job of letting us but it still let Jeff get right under my rear wing. I knew I had to just hit all the apex's and get a good exit off that final turn to keep him at bay, but it would be easy.

Lap 18 and things changed for the worst as we entered the final turn. I got some major understeer in the corner before so I was trying to sort that out, but up ahead Magnus T was recovering from a spin. He got it pointing in the right way but unfortunately he was right on my line. I tried my best to go wide and avoid him but I ended up clipping his rear and spinning him. I'd took to the grass so Jeff was able to get past. I was in two minds weather it was a punt or not as at that time I didn't really catch on that he'd spun. I decided rather than risk loosing a lap after I'd do the drive through (turns out it wasn't a punt in the end).

Rejoined in 4th with around 10 mins left. I was 6 seconds behind Joao who was fighting it out with Rogier for 2nd so when I had a clear track I drove like a mad man to make up the ground. It was always going to happen but around 5 mins later I lost the rear in T1 and spun it. It was a gamble I was willing to take as I had a decent gap over Mike D.S. who was in 5th. Rejoined and has planned I was still ahead of Mike so I just made sure I kept it on the track to bring it home in 4th.

I'm happy enough with that, and even though I wasn't able to fight Jeff to the flag again for 1st I'll take 4th. Just seems I'm going through a bit of bad luck at the moment that you seem to get from time to time :).

Grats again Jeff on the win and Grats to Rog and Joao for 2nd and 3rd. Pat on the back to James L though, that was unlucky mate :(.

What a disaster i jumped from the waiting list into that race 15 minutes before the quali started. I was able to get 3 place for the race but didnt practice before and didnt have confidence in driving here. As a result i was running second close behind James and unfortunetly didnt brake on time and pushed him off the track i already apologise to him but im sorry again. From that point my car was damaged and i went to the pit but nothing was happening and i decide to retire what a dissapointment.

Very suprised at my pace tonight. In practice yesterday I was 1:05's and that was the best I could manage! Weird.

Luckily got a fairly decent lap in early on to take a very lucky pole. I didn't deserve that.

Race was pretty hectic. Unlucky racing accident on lap 2 dropped me to 9th position. Then just a case of picking off the back markers and the guys ahead of me on track.

Managed to get up to 6th fairly easily, then Mike Dos Santos flashed me by, thanks for that mate! I was on a hard charge :-p. I then tagged the back of Inaki Grande in sector 2 causing him to go round. Sorry for that, you wasn't very predictable though, but thanks for trying to make it easier :-)

After my d/t I just got my head down and managed to get back onto the rear of Mike with 3 to go. Tried with all my might to get passed him, but to no joy. Heading into the last lap, we were coming on fast to some back markers, "Yeah!" I thought. This is my opportunity. After thinking that, I was at the braking zone to T1 on the grass, locked up, snaking towards the rear of Mike!! Luckily I managed to get round him and not make contact, pheeww!!

My worst race till this moment, hope I'll not have another race such this one!

Qualy went bad, but that is not the problem, that is usal, but the race...from 6th to the dust. I've hade the pace to stay in top 5, without mistakes I could have followed Rogier, as usual :) but that wasn't the case. After few laps I've had a little drift in T4 and due to that I was pushed into the grass where I lost control of the car. From that point on I've tried to recover the gap from the 7th and 6th reducing the gap from 8 sec to 3 sec but a lapped car changed line when I was approaching and it was impossible for me to avoid the contact so I paid my ride through; but then in the haste of recovering I've forced a pass on a lapped car on the last turn and I hit the barrier damaging the front suspension, which forced me to go back to the pit where I lost 50 sec. Moreover at the end of the race I was told that I've made 3 punt during the race and since I've made the ride through just for one I've been punished whit -2 laps.

This was my first race here at R2P since a pretty long time and my first one to be a 'prototype-event.'

The track was completely new to me, so I expected not to be very fast here since most of the drivers have far more experience with these cars and this track. I was right, unfortunately..... :D.

My Qual went OK. The laptime wasn't bad if you look at the times I drove in practice. Still, it was just P15 on the grid.

The race started with mayham in T1, and as a result of that I had to re-enter the track in last (24th).After some spins and mistakes from other drivers, I was able to get more and more to the front. I was about in 10th position when my tires were an absolute nightmare. I had chosen the soft compound, but that was a wrong decision. My laptimes hadn't been fast at all during the race so far - though they were pretty constistant - but now they were dropping even slower. And with just about 4 minutes to go, my left front tire died: puncture. :(

I had a great start in i sleeped in and only hoped on to the server 5 mins before qaul. so went out and just tryed to get a slow but stead rythem going.

Qaul: i went into it not expeting much, But after 5 mins i was shocked to see i was around 7th! It didnt last. I ended up a lowly 16th.

Race: I made a good start and jump a couple of peps and had a run on the guys ahead but dicided better of it because i would have made it 5 wide. I tryed my best to get into a rythem but my lack of practice showed with a few spins. All Up im happy with my 8th place finsh.

Thanks to all the back markers. You guys did a fantastic job both leting the front runners pass while not being unperdictable. Thank You
