Intro to Historic F1 #2

My race lasted 3 turns. Got knocked into the guard rail, sweet! No biggie. I'll just get off the mat and come back for more :)

Well I thought I was actually going to finish a race at this track.

I was up in fourth after a good start. Made a mistake going into T1 and Ray passed me then Paul Hamilton; who always finds a way to rear end me, did just that bending my rear a-arm. I lasted a couple laps barley hanging on then tankslapped it into the wall killing the Renault Turbo.

These are open wheel cars and you cant bang people around or you ruin their; and possibly your race. I wish some of these guys would understand that. They are fragile so give some respect. If you were on a real track you certainly would.

Crappy night of racing for me.

Frosty I need help on setups for these...I really cant be 4 sec's slower than you can I?

Oh man. What an idiot I am! 1st lap and I catch a smidge of turf........race over..you need 4 wheels to compete here my friend. I was really looking forward to this one. Having taken myself out of the last one also. Single car accidents never bode well! Crew gave me a very fast car today as well. I better buck up my ideas I'll tell you.

Mr. Hamilton. Why exactly did you pass me 3 or 4 times on the formation lap? I almost took us both out the first time. Did not expect to see you beside me while warming my tires! It's not that difficult really. You quallied 5th, therefore you would be 5th in line single file. Right behind me (4th). I also believe that this contributed greatly to.......

Ray. LOL. You wanted my grid spot bad eh! hehe. I was thinking to myself "where does he think he's going?" as you were backing up over my front wing! NP though, I was laughing at the same time. That's got to be good enough for the highlight reel. Turns out I didn't need that wing anyway.

I'm going to go look at my 2 minute replay now.....bah.

I should tattoo an L on my forehead.At least I didn`t run into anyone.I was trying to be cautious and get to the finish but I got a little sideways into a turn and it snapped on me.Lap 2,race over,L on forehead.

Well, looking for an apartment gave me little time to prepare for this one. Next race i will not be on of the many ligiers or williams on track. anyway, in practice i could barely keep the car on track for 2 laps much less 20, and in qualifying i lost it in the last turn of my hot lap (would of been a 1:37.xxx) and bent the suspension and got a flat tire. i had to hit esc :(. the back of the grid is an ok place to be, cause i get to aviod all the accident at the start, and there were plenty. but i got through ok. then i caught up to the slower guys and got by them 1 by 1. me and shane had a close one at the end of the back straight, but i don't think we touched, just very close. Me and Pete had a good battle for a few turns, which was fun. before i know it i'm fourth behind Mike W. i spent the rest of the 14 to 15 laps trying the catch him, but to no avail. near the end of the race, the car got real nasty, push on entry to loose mid corner and push on exit. made for some very scary last laps. next time i'll be with the top group.

I thought I was going to be on the front row for sure after practice, but Frosty really sandbagged us. 1:35, disgusting! Nice job. :)

Formation lap was perfect from where I was sitting. I had a very nice start, and probably could have gone into P1 by the first turn, but I figured Frosty and Jarrod were quicker, so I just tucked in behind and tried to be smooth.

Almost lost it in T6 on the first lap, scared myself. I ended up 10 seconds behind Jarrod as I recovered from the bobble and built up speed lap by lap. Then Jarrod had some kind of problem and I got by him mid-race. A couple of laps latter had a bobble in those uphill esses and Jarrod went by again. I went balls out to catch him but I couldn't make a dent in his lead and finished about a second behind. Had a blast chasing him though. Well done guys!

Aw, crap. Sorry, Dean. I passed my spot by accident, so I rushing to get into the spot before the leaders all overheated. Sorry, man. Thought I backed up unscathed. :(

Anyway, good race! Sort of. Spun on on lap 5 or something and dropped to 9th with a banged-up front left suspension, so it was a bit awkward for the rest of the race. Was following Jerry Chen pretty well until I goofed the final turn before the straight and beached my car up onto the curb; no wheels were touching the ground! Inertia managed to keep my car going until I slid off. Tried to catch back up as I sensed an opportunity when Paul and Jerry started battling, but I just couldn't squeeze out any more juice from my car with the funky steering.

Congratulations to Frosty. With more time, he probably would've lapped the entire field; 2nd place was half a track behind! Smoking race pace, man.

Almost didn't race -- I don't really like this track very much -- but as always, I'm glad I did. There was a huge gap between the aliens and the humans here and I qualified between. Watched them drive away from the start and tried to settle down to running steady laps. For some reason, about lap 15 my car got very loose -- I didn't hit anything or overdrove to heat the tires, but for whatever reason, I spun twice and got into the grass once all on one lap and finished any chances of competing for fourth. After that, I bounced off the stupid curb in the esses -- wtbleep is THAT all about anyway? -- and Jerry Chen got by for fifth. Worked hard to catch up, including my race-best lap of a 39.3 and finally caught up starting the final lap. Stuck right to his wing all the way to the back straight and drafted by... But hey, he ain't giving up! Side by side through the long curve, he got a little ahead leading into the next. I drafted again and tried a daring outside pass in the right-hander leading to the short straight but didn't make it. Pushed TOO hard in the next turn and half-spun, consigning me to sixth place, but a few very memorable moments there. Neither of us gave an inch, but we never touched. Competition at its very best.

Apologies again, Shane. The way you blew by me on the long straight, you must have been running a VERY low downforce setup whereas I always do my setups for the turns even if I have to lose top end. I guess you had to slow down more for the turns than me and I was too close to react when you braked more than I expected. I had a very close race with Jerry and we never even touched but our setups seemed pretty similar whereas your's was different and that was my downfall. Yes, I respect the fragility of the cars and the other drivers. It certainly wasn't deliberate.

Was a fun race for me although I was really bummed to see my teammates Barry and Shane drop out :( Barry has a good excuse just having a root canal yesterday heck I am suprised he is even driving. I dont think I could do that at all man I am too much of a wuss!

And Shane all I have is a set I got from an alien friend of mine for the Willy. I think the car you were in is also not as good but no, you are no where near 4 sec a lap slower than me so I will send you some tips ;)
