Fun-run: Elise Challenge

Not happy again. Cold tires and brakes and a gap that wasn't there and I got pushed off the track. Lucky to finish 4th.

Grats to John...You were the class of the field again.

Thanks for the apology Goran and I appreciate the pm as well. I probably couldn't have got near John anyway but it shows that you are a driver with class. No hard feelings on my part.

Thanks guys for such a fun race. This was probably my most competitive race yet (this was my third) and I was happy to be battling with you guys just outside of the top 10. I possibly would have even been fighting for 10th if it hadn't been for my own bone headed mistake of driving to fast into a corner and into the kitty litter. =P Though, I'm happy that was my only mistake, and wasn't too significant either. Though, I'll have to watch the replay to see how clean I raced, which I believe I was.

I was too late on brake in T3 lap1, and i went out of the track. I never realized that i took you with me, as i thought that i went in front of your nose. When i saw the car from the inside passing, i thought it was you, but it was Steve Blankenship. If i knew that you are still behind me, i would wait and let you go through.
That accident have cost a lot of precious time, and greatly reduced our chance for a shot at the first place taken by John Dixon (well earned, great driving).
Once again, i am really sorry and didnt realize that my mistake had any effect on you.

Fun race - nice and clean up front. Setup suffered badly from a push entering the front straight, killing my speed. Looks like a different line/setup would have helped. You guys were leaving me behind at that exit! Nice clean racing Goran, well executed pass. I can't believe your braking point into one - VERY deep! Congrats John on the win!

Thx Ben, but after pulling that stunt on Richard, i cant except your compliment regarding me being clean in that race.
I came here looking for clean races and being the one to piss of a fellow racer, i feel very ashamed. My 2nd place was not deserved in this race :(
The worst part is that for the entire race i didnt know what i've done.

It was a good battle for the 11 to 14 positions. Sorry Greg, I hit your car in the first lap at T3. It wasn't the move of the year. So I decided to wait for you. In lap 4, I hit a car, I think it was David, who had some lagging problems, then I lost a few positions.

Well that was a couple of firsts for me, after 50 races here at R2P:

- first time to punt someone in contact that was 100% my fault (sorry about that, Gregg)
- first time to have my 'honor' questioned, whatever that means (although I think my accuser and I have worked that out)

It should have been a fun race (I enjoyed a close battle with Chad at the end), but the earlier contact and unjustified (IMO) post-race call-out put a definite damper on the evening. I'm over it now, though, and looking forward to the next race.

After watching the replay, I'm sorry Frank, I had no idea that happened. I must have lagged real bad, because there's no way what happened to you should have. There is a lapse of time where I'm completely missing from the replay. I apologize for the problems that it caused you. I can't wait for a few months when I get a better internet service, though I didn't realize it would cause something that ridiculous. Thinking back though, I recall noticing that you were no longer behind me and wondered what happened. Then my position dropped on my screen from about 12th to 15th, though I didn't think that was too strange as I had seen screwy timing errors before even on ultra fast connections. Once again, my apologies.

Pretty hard race for such a short one! I'm not a big fan of Estoril since I have issues on any course with lots of creepy-crawly slow bits, and Estoril certainly has its share. Had no idea what setup would be good, so I just used the one from Dubai, though I ended up dropping the rear ARB a couple clicks since it was too loose in the slow corners here.

Struggled in practice but finally made some progress and was running low-mid 45's in Q on softs, which I guessed was about it for me. That got me 5th on the grid, which I was happy with. Got a decent launch and drove really cautious the first lap, having had problems here in the GT3 race on L1. Lost a spot in T1 because of it, but it worked out later since I picked up 3 spots when others ran into trouble on cold tires.

Plugged in behind John and Maciej, hoping their dicing would slow them up enough to let me stay in touch. That worked OK for a few laps, but then Maciej spun and I kind of lost my concentration for a bit. Got collected and tried to hang onto John, but was pretty much on my limit and made a few mistakes - relatively small blunders, but ones that sent the tire temps skyward. It really doesn't take much of a mis-step to get these tires to turn on you, then you have to really tip toe for a while to get them to come back. Reminds me of some women I've known... ;-)

Anywho, was struggling on unhappy tires and almost looped it in T3 in front of Goran, loing a spot but fortunately not taking him out. Nothing to do then but dial it back and see if the tires would come around. They did for the most part, but then Richard was coming and I figured all I could do was keep it clean and wait for the inevitable.

But the inevitable didn't come - I saw him spin in the slow bit at the end of the lap, and figured all I had to do was not go off and it was a podium.

Moral of the story, go as quick as you can without getting over your head, and take whatever luck hands you.

I had an awesome race for my first jaunt in GTR2. I was expecting to be less than competative honostly. It's been so long since I've run a gMotor1 gen game that I completly forgot about it's collision boxes being so 'large'. The car was a hoot to drive, and I have really missed the momentum style racing. The lotus being a real touring class car, it would have only been better if we could bang doors alittle better. I goofed huge when I slamed the rear of Miller. I felt terrible and kindly waited off the track for him. We ran nose to tail for a few laps 'till he got intot he rear of a slower car, slowing them both down, so I took a move. I wasnt expecting you to battle me for my obviose advantage of momentum, and I thought it untactful. I was able to keep my line stuck though, and continued on. I remember passing one other afterwards, that gainedme a position, and few that did not. I gained on Tommy a few seconds and had hopes of maybe pulling a par out of this race, but he must have felt me coming and turned it up. this track was a trick to master, and only got more comfortable as teh race progressed. I will need more training to stay ahead of the game next round, but trust that I am not giving up, and will be there with bells on. :P
