Fun-run: Formula BMW

Stupid fuel calculations... would be nice if this was considered when adding tracks to R2P, and a warning attached to those that have a problem. I dont have time to test for fuel mileage ontop of everything else :-(

PS: The race itself was great. Considering the number of entries this race got, and the quality of the racing, this definatley needs to become a regular Monday night series!

Well that was fun. But being the new boy at R2P i was way to cautious at the start and dropped to last. then rookie mistake by pushing to hard and spinning on the first tour! LOL. was fun guys, I hope to put up a better showing at the next event.

That was a great race!
i got a fantstic start, got 5 or 6 positions before we got to T1, but my happiness was short lived when i span in the fast chicane and lost all the places i gained at the start. i just picked off who i could and a few had bad luck and i sumhow managed to come 5th. after raioting 1 leter to 2 laps
you've gotta start a seires up with these Tim :D

I did calculate fuel but didn't allow for the cutting of the chicane, (higher revs), so had to coast last lap and was completely dry 200 yards after finishing line.

Still it was a fun race even at the back where I was. Don't know how I came so far down the field. I think I was overtaken about 3 times but I went past at least 6 cars that had spun off...

Looking forward to the next race. Hopefully it will a street circuit with walls instead of curbs... removes the whole cutting issue, cut corner= lose a wheel :D

Great! Yet another great race for me!

Start was excellent. I gained 2 positions, towards the back of the field.

Touched Joco with my front rights wheel in first lap at the "Ickx" chicane. I braked on time and he was around 3 car lenghts ahead. You must've braked very hard Joco or what.

Car was a bit funny now, but still not too bad. At the first chicane in lap 2, it suddenly spun on me when I was trying to correct tiny oversteer, maybe that damaged front right wheel had some doing in it. Now I had to run slower pace then possible, some due to damaged wheel some dur to slower car ahead.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any better in lap 16 my car suddenly stutters, ahhh I'm out of fuel. Sweeeet. I haven't checked fuel level before as I was chasing D. Tsarev. Ran out of fuel in pit lane and crawled to my spot in neutral, car stopped exactly on the spot.

Need to cancel all my events as I wouldn't want to ruin my streak!

First race with that car, it's so nice. Now a have to practice a lot...

Scott, earlier in the day i did a session in which i discovered i was using about 1.4L/lap! and adjusted my setup to 30L accordingly. that's all part of the race strategy isn't it?

Andy, something weird happened at the end. i see i ran almost an entire extra lap thinking we were still racing -- unsure if the checker appeared before or after i crossed the line (gotta get used to the display options in rFactor). then the track reloaded as i was about 30 feet shy of the S/F and when it came back i was suddenly 4 or 5 places lower in the order.

as i'm sure you've seen by now, the official results show you 9th.

the race was amazing -- for the close competition, fun and the fact that i think this is the first race i've had on R2P when i wasn't nudged at least once into a spin from behind. and for that, i thank Glen Draper who seemed to be able to close on me at will, he was much quicker than i in T1 and 2, but resisted the desperation pass on a track that is very difficult to pass on in these cars.

i knew i wasn't going to be the fastest guy out there, so again i just tried to focus on being as consistent as i could. my only off was a self-induced spin when i became distracted by a message poping up as i was braking for "parabolica" (there not as safe to read when they appear in the lower left corner rather than the top of the screen). other than that, i lost some time when i had a moment or two of mental wandering, first when my upstairs tenants came loudly down the stairs, and then when i was trying to figure out how to get rFactor to tell me what lap i was on.

Man was that fun or what! Had such good battles bu the sour moment came with Joco attempting to pass in T1, he ran too deep came straight back on track and sent me into the sand AND i gave him room. :(

I thought he'd graciously let my past again but he didn't and i was glad to see the stewards took notice of that misdemeanour and awarded it with a penalty.

Other than that I enjoyed myself and wish it was a few laps more or maybe a two race format!!??

@ Scott, you've been racing long enough to know to do a fuel calc lap, whether in praccy or Quali..its not that hard :D

Yeah my 1st time on R2P so was never going to be over zellous. As you say it is pretty hard to overtake at that track. So descretion was more to me than billy being a hero.

Again have to say it was fun. I learnt alot about how you guys drive and with a few more trips to R2P i hope to start putting the pressure on.

Well all I can say is I agree with all the previous comments.

From where I was and after watching the replay everybody drove immpecably.

For the first time I really felt I was taking part in the race rather than touring at the back, but then I made a silly mistake and took a close look at the wall, shit these cars are flimsy!
