Fun-run: Formula BMW

woot! that was fun! Just had one stupid spin while catching krill but other than that flawless :))

I enjoyed the race dispite the low Q and very slow lap times during the race. Not 100% sure I loaded the right setup before joining the grid tbh :/

Still lots of fun and a top5 which is a bonus for me in any OW race, hell just finishing an OW race is a bonus :)

Mix feelings for this one...

It's the first time I'm reasonably fast and I've managed to qualy at 7th place. Not too bad considering I've done only one timed lap.

The beginning of the race was quite okay, I was closing on the group of 4th, 5th and 6th on lap 4 when suddendly on the fast right hander at the end of T2, Nick lost control right in front of me. I've braked hard to avoid him but I spun too. Zeljko managed to avoid me and Goran barely managed too... But he didn't, resulting in a 190 sec pit stop for both of us :(

Sorry Goran, I've ruined your race (and mine too) but it's not entirely my fault considering I was trying to avoid a wreck. Well in a way I've managed to avoid one wreck but provoked another one ^^

Anyway, looking forward for the next one (race, not wreck :p ) :)

Couldn't get a grip of this circuit but then I've never liked it. Should have asked Andy for his set :)

Anyway me and Goran were going at it as usual and Gary was in there making it a 3 way tussle. I have had several tussles with Goran and he is a hard but fair guy, I don't believe we have touched once (no funny remarks please) and we have had a few good battles now. I really enjoyed that, but we all know all good things have to come to an end.

I got past Goran, only because he got caught up in a bit of carnage and could not avoid it, hard luck mate. Then I was chasing Gary.

For some reason which I can't explain I was fairly quick out of the last turn onto the straight and by the end of the straight I had half a nose in front. I was braking for T1 and it was looking as if I was going to make it, thanks to Gary for driving impeccably - and then BANG, a low flying FBMW hit me which damaged my right rear suspension.

I think someone came in a bit hot and had a lock up.

Ah well such is life, but I have to say these things are a treat to race with.

That Unidentified Low Flying BMW was most likely me. Or then there was yet another one. I was approaching T1 normally flat out with three cars in front of me. Braking of the car ahead of me (not too soon) caught me off guard and I steered a bit to right to avoid hitting him. In an instant rear broke loose and I became traveller and collected someone in T1. Very sorry about that.

Guess we'll never know the behind the servers stuff, but congrats to Kirill for the win, Grecian and Andy (!) for the podium.

Again, a load of fun racing these -- a lot of good action with a lot of good drivers. Spent most of my time being chased rather than chasing in this one. Made a few mistakes, but i managed to keep my head in the game and didn't throw away any positions that hadn't been earned.

Had to thread a needle at 50+ mph when i came into T5 on lap 11 and found Mladenovic and Froment heading off in opposite directions. Inattentively dumped it into 1st and almost spun myself.

Other than that, what was foremost in my mind was not hitting the concrete armaments of the chicaine like i did in practice. I mean, really, we should all form a drivers union and get these safety hazards removed before one of us gets seriously hurt! I understand the advantage for the Stewards, but really...

Thanks to all for another great R2P event, especially Glen Draper, who was much faster in some sections, but apparently had some misfortune early on and let several of us thru who were contesting for position and then didn't press his advantage in those sections where he clearly had one.

Edit: got Mr. Draper's name wrong for some reason.

I had a good time racing Chris, who always seemed to get a better run out of the last turn than I did. Too bad we both got knocked off track in the previously mentioned T1 incident, but these things happen. :)

I'm looking forward to the next race in these, and to the season. It should be a good one.

Why am I 2nd now, someone got DQ'ed????
