Fun-run: Formula BMW

Well that (I) sucked. Botched the start and dropped to 4th. Then I dropped a wheel on the wrong curb and lost it hitting the wall and losing all my aero. Determined not to DNF, I pitted, but lost it a few laps later and killed her completely. Sorry to the team, but this was a fun-run, and I'd rather learn the car now than during the coming season.

One of my most mysterious outings....I qualied 1.2sec off my reg pace, which meant P6 starting, so i said "not bad, i'll make it up in a couple of laps..." well, in the first lap EVERYONE ate me up like a cheap omelette-- i mean everyone was passing me left and right like i was standing still! (perhaps too much wing? but my practice pace seemed okay). Finally, after a few laps I gave myself cpr and crawled back a little-- finishing 7th, but the last five laps my tires were shot and I did humble little to pace myself to the end and not a guardrail. I am with you Bob, good trials to learn the car-- i think CT Team is a strong team.

Oh, I cant belive it.
Had a great run, 4th in my hands, few turns to checkered flag and then ... CTD "rFactor encountered problems..."

That was really nice race. Had good start, gain a position, later on took Muller after dogfight and let him fight with Malanga. Last 4 laps my front tyres was melting but managed to keep it on track.

Smrc, I`m very dissapointed.

that was one full night of racing ...OMG fun!!! To much happened to really get it all down.....SO here are my high lights of the night
1..Great start went all out(hope I was clean)
2..had great battel with my team mate Kev Lock(Man we went at it!!as always)
3..was catching Muller(but had to much pressure from behind)
4..watched zeliko have some kind of bad luck on last lap(too bad,we were there all race
5..oh and did i say that I took Kev to school...LOL(Smoke)
6..would like to say what great drivers all are here in R2P very clean!!! Nice job all

That was my first serious online race, and it seems I'm ok for speed, but have a lot to learn about racing. My launch was terrible, I dropped from 5th to 10th in the first half of the first lap and then seemed unable to pass unless someone made a terrible mistake. Oddly enough I seemed to be able to brake much later for the corner after the non-pit straight than during qualifying, either that or the sign was moved.

Not accounting for the fuel used by the formation lap didn't help either;)

Still, I had some real fun chasing Malanga, and the entire race was a lot more professional and clean than I expected, even when I was a moving chicane of sorts on the first lap.

I went side-by-side with Zeljko on the start to split through the row that started in front of us. Zeljko - sorry if I pinched you to the outside a little too much on T1, I thought I had left you more room than the replay shows that I did :). It was fun racing you, and I couldn't withstand the relentless pressure for long...I had a lot of fun trying, though. I was sorry to see your misfortune at the end - one moment you were there, the next moment your car was gone :(

Once Zeljko was by, I had all I could do to hold off Tom, who in turn was trying to hold off someone else. Without the help from the car behind you, Tom, I don't think I would have been able to stay in front!

Thanks for the clean racing, all! I can't wait for this series to crank up.

It's a big adjustment from the GT/NGTs to tip-toeing around in these little open-wheelers. Makes for some spectacular crashes back in the pack- I saw a couple of good ones, though I managed to stay clean the whole race.

Some more seat-time would have served me well, I qualified with like a 2:02, but by mid-race I was able to turn some 1:59's once I adjusted to the car.

Cut up a couple of laps with Francesco early on, which tells you how the start of his race was going :) I was trailing him alright until a light spin set me back. Came up on a good battle with Ryan and Barrett not long after, and managed to capitalize on it by following Ryan past when Barrett was compromised in T2. Somebody came out of nowhere behind us and I think walloped Barrett off right behind me. Followed Ryan for quite a while after that, unable to close him, until finally another small slip-up gave up my spot to Tim, and that's where I finished.

Speaking of spectacular crashes: I made a good start; tip-toed through some spins in the first few corners. Was gaining on Gregg when he spun in front of me. The only problem was Tim was making a move to the right of me and I had no place to go. Damage model is such that I only lost the front wing. I limped around doing 208s++ till everybody passed me and dove into the pits as the leaders were about to lap me. Another day....

My lack of testing at Northamptonshire GP showed.

Made some small adjustments to my stock setup based on my Nurburg Sprint testing. They seemed to be working OK in the pre-race practice, but once the race was underway i discovered that it was only OK if i didn't try to go fast enough to stay in the mix. The car simply wouldn't turn in if i was even slightly imprecise with my line and speed. Of course, i was more than slightly imprecise on several occasions.

One such occasion, Michael has already mentioned. I lost all momentum plowing my way thru Chapel and eventually Ryan went around me in Stowe and Michael and Jarrod Barclay got by at Vale. They would have all gotten by me eventually, as they were all quicker. Unfortunately Jarrod and i had some slight contact here. But it was entirely due to my brake-induced slide. As my left side locked up and i went sideways, Jarrod had nowhere to go. I don't think either of us suffered any damage.

but yet again i fumbled with the paddles for an eternity before finding 1st and getting moving again. guess i should be practicing that.

Anyway, i again had a lot of fun racing with you guys in these cars. Looking forward to S5.

I had a blast!! I must say, I made some adjustments to my wheel profile and last night was the first time rFactor was FUN, what a difference it made. Anyway, a big thanks to Tommy C for giving me a setup that was awesome and easy to drive, thx Tom!
I had made one mistake which I encountered some light damage but enough to unsettle the car under braking, so into the pits and lost a lap, after that it was pure adrenaline trying to make up time and to learn how to drive these fantastic cars.
Congrats to the podium and looking forward to this series.
