Euro FT: Goldenport

Congrats to Rory for the win and the track record! also to Tim and Rob for filling out the podium. My appologies to Lian for the hit in turn one. I stopped and waited for you but when I saw you lost your wing I felt like shit.

I let time get away for me this morning and didn't get into the game until qualification so hopes for a good starting position was going to be hard if not impossible. This sucks because I did quite a bit of practice for this race and was turning laps under the track record. My best being 109.445 but, in the end it did not match up to Rory's hot lap! Needless to say I was a little shaky because of getting in late and made some mistakes. I am going to rethink participating in a race where I missed practice........

well, this race was a bit of a disaster for me. But it was still very fun. I was 4th on the grid, and after about 5 laps there was an accident ahead of me. Someone was driving very slowly on the track, and i swerved and spun to avoid them. I was now down in 10th, (i think) and as i made a move to overtake someone, they accidently turned into me, sending me into another spin. After some hard battling, i was now back in the top ten, with about 3 laps to go. Me and barret were in a battle for what i think was 6th place, and after having troubles with brake balance, he accidently touched me on the last corner, which i think damaged my suspension. After battling the car around the track, the rear finally gave up, sending me into the wall at 70mph. I had officialy turned my car into a 3 wheeler! I retired on lap 17/18 :(
It was still realy fun, and me and barret had a great battle.

EDIT: OMG OMG OMG OMG! I DONT BELIEVE IT! i have just noticed by watching the replay, that about 5 laps from the end i lost my front wing. I then did a 1:10, with no front wing! i cant believe it, i didnt even know that my wing fell off. LOL.
Congrats to rory on a great win, and to everyone else for being great competitors.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed, that was my first race with the trainers and I'd practiced quite hard.

I was running well in 6th behind Rob Clenshaw for a good few laps with 4th & 3rd only a few lengths ahead when I lost my wing after T1.

I wasn't without blame, apologies to Rob for the minor contact a lap or two earlier, I was on the edge of control and was extremely happy that you were able to continue. Sorry for the scare though.

Overall, I was really pleased not to be miles off the pace, hopefully I'll have a bit more luck next time :)

No worries Iain. I think my heart jumped to about 500 beats per minute for a second there though!
