USA FT: Silverstone

had major issues with my pc today. i think i have a virus and things run like sheets. Sorry for not unregistering, but i was hoping to run here.

Man, 6 days away, and in my first race back my computer locks up while I'm leading on the first lap :(
Combine this with my eventual DNF tomorrow when somebody takes me out of the Panoz race and I'll be one pissed off puppy come tomorrow.

I had a fun time racing with Jarrod and George for 2nd place for the first few laps, until I spun on my own at turn-in for the right-hander after Maggots while trying to pass George on the outside. I had gotten a good run out of Copse when Jarrod and George went through there side-by-side, and I was able to just pull ahead before the braking zone for the tight right-hander, but wasn't quite able to make the turn stick from the outside. From watching the replay, George was good enough to leave me plenty of room on the inside that I could have taken the apex, but at speed during the race it was difficult to tell if I would have caused contact by turning in at my regular spot.

In hindsight I probably should either have been more patient OR more aggressive there (I ended up in that shady middle ground where it's impossible to stay on the track AND make a pass stick.)

From there I fell back in the field, and had a fun race trying to keep Steve Parsons behind me. I was successful until the last lap, when he was able to find a way by - good race, Steve!

congrats Steve, Jerrod and George you guys ran a great race. Its a well deserved podium.

the night before I got about 75 laps of practice so I felt I was ready to execute my race plan, which was nothing more than to run a trouble free race. At one point I could see Tim coming up on me pretty fast and I didn't think I could hold him off so I didn't put up to much of a fight when he went by. Sticking to my game plan, then sure enough on about lap 16 Tim spins and lets me and George go by. George and I diced for about a lap but he was able to make a good pass on me and take the last podium spot...Great race guys.....

Another great race. Had some good fights with Jarrod, Tim, and Tommy. Was running 2nd behind Steve when I slowly lost the backend in the hairpin. That dropped me to 5th. At the end Tim made a mistake and Tommy and I got by. And in the last lap I managed to overtake Tommy. My compliments to all and grats again to Steve for getting a good win.

Nice to go racing again! Been super busy lately and just haven't had the time, but missed dicing with you guys.

Was surprised to get pole, but for some reason slower cars seem to suit me. If there's ever a Flintstonemobile mod, I will RULE! Unless of course there are pitstops, then I'll get lapped twice... ;-)

Blew the start pretty bad lugging a too-long 1st gear, but lucked out when TC was abducted by aliens (bummer!) and then when Tim outbraked himself in T2 a lap or so later. Had a short but fun dice with George, and then managed to build a small gap while he was busy defending 2nd. Just tried to keep it steady from there, and only had to deal with a loose rear since I'd forgotten to put a click of rear wing back on after Qualifying. Got sideways a few times, but using the realfeel FF plugin with 4 degrees of caster really helps catch the car in that situation. Hope they can get that thing to work with GTR2!

Came into the race during qualifying, too late, no chance for a lap, so started in the back. I hadn't practiced for this race at all, so I used my Varano setup and tried to make whatever tweaks I could during the warmup, mostly gearing. I was familiar with the layout, but not sure how the car handles here, so I'm happy with 10th.

My race actually went well at the back, especially the first 5 laps or so with some great racing. Look forward to the next one...
