My apologies to Kent, VERY sorry I screwed your race up. Just know I was not trying to dive bomb you, I made a gross error thinking you would be faster going around the outside with the line you had. You slowed down more and caught me by surprise. Definitely not making excuses, just want you to know it WAS NOT on purpose and I feel terrible about it...

What a piece of crap that race turned out to be. Had a decent qual got good start and passed 2 guys up to 4th. Was very generous giving 5th back to Jones but later in the lap it was decided that I needed to get out of the way and was punted out and upside down. After my 85 second pit stop I was a lap down to the field.

Making my way around I came upon a dufus in a red car, you know who you are, that continually criss crossed in front of me for 2 laps resulting in a spin and a few offs for me. Not that it would have made any difference in the result for me but that was totally lobby driving and not worthy of Race 2 Play.

I am sure there was some good clean racing but as far as I am concerned this was what I have become used to seeing in a rFactor event, purely unclean driving.

Grats to the podium.

Okay Jimmy I can accept that, but as for the others at the rear there was no excuse.

I had my best race to date!!! All I know is its better up front.. LOL

I spent a good deal of time tweaking the rear bar and differential preload as a combo... and found a hard-ish bar with very low preload seems to be the fastest setup for the many high-speed decreasing-radii corners on this course. The engine brake mapping was bothering me; I set it to '1' and forwarded the brake bias to compensate... of course this meant a longer braking distance, but felt better to me through the wheel.

All in all, a great race. Tommy Christian kept the pressure on, so I was working hard to gain a couple of tenths each lap. Great job to the top 5!

Real good technical info there Tristan, not something people usually post. Maybe if I had the info before the race I woulda had a chance ...

You're too fast for me man. I kept waiting for that little mistake, but it never came. So I backed it off a few tenths as I was starting to overdrive it trying to keep up.

And Kent, funny how point-of-view means everything. In my experience a lot of the GTR drivers are WAY more aggressive the the regulars I see in rF, and to further complicate things GTR's multiplayer code just isn't as tolerant of that kind of bang up behavior.
You have to remember that you're always up front in the GTR races, so you never have to deal with the mid-pack "winning on the first lap" ridiculousness. Those of us behind you struggling to get faster have a lot different view of things than you.
And now when you're in an rF race and quallied a bit back, your perspective is a lot different.
Again, perspective is everything.
And I asked you twice if you got my setup and got no response. I was trying to help you out.

Hahaha, classic.

I obviously didn't practice enough as it took me ages just to get near the times I had reached in the first day of FBMW testing. Then I could not get it decently balanced to be able to go faster. What weirdo setup options they have! (front end limitations)

With just a few laps till Qualifying time I had my first ever rear end 'snap' spin! The car never even hinted at it in all prior running. Then of course it did it on the Qual lap too! I hadn't changed anything from the prior setup of any note. sigh
So I think I was 16th on the grid, or something?

The race start was puzzling. I launched off at the Green lights and suprisingly blitzed past a ton of cars that were slow off the line. So that helped me get a fair way up the places very quickly. And then some more cars caught and passed along the lap so I think I was 5th by the end of that first lap! hmmm, a big surprise.

Then came a LONG and tough battle with 4th and 3rd ahead!
It took ages to get in behind 4th, and by then the 3rd placed car was just a few car lengths ahead of him too! So that put the three of us into a close ongoing battle till the end of the race!

I sat back patiently, seeing I did not have the power ro speed anywhere to do much anyway. And then their own battling caused a delay to them and I got to shoot past JUST. And from then on it was just the tough job of focussing on good laps to keep them out of reach if I could. But really we all remained very close and positions could have changed at any time if anyone made a slip up!

Seeing I had added more rear wing for the race, to hopefully make the rear end a bit safer, there is no way I could have done better than 3rd even if I had qualified there anyway. The two lead cars were just too fast, and ran very consistent races, anyway.

Hey Tommy. That was an interesting 'dive bombing' line and braking procedure that you had into the hairpin! LOL
Looks like you had some amazing stopping power there. Though some troublesome front wheel lock up most times too.

Whilst these cars sound weak and drive fairly slow, my accidental 'three gears' testing shows they actually have huge torque (relative for their engine and size) - far more than they truly would. And that means you don't really need to make them 'flow' like you would a real low powered car/open-wheeler. You can actually 'point and shoot' them like a much more powerful car and do just as well, or better than flow. So that means it is best to test racing lines of all track areas for both styles to see which works best where.
It also means that a small error messing up a good flowing line doesn't matter too much as you can convert the path on the fly to more of a 'point and shoot' one to correct the problem.

This is not a particularly good Mod really.
Still fun though.

Well, I started pretty well with a surprise 4th qualifying, but I bogged down on the start and dropped a couple places.

Somewhere during the first lap I was tapped into a spin, and the car was damaged front and back. I only really noticed that the car was worse under braking and turning left was always an adventure with the back end constantly trying to come around.

Despite this I started to make the my way back through the field. That is until I reached Edgar. I was faster, that much was obvious, but he really knew how to keep me behind. That 5+ lap battle and the minor skirmishes that ensued when other cars caught up were the most fun racing I've ever had. I know the leaders are good, but I would advise everyone to take a look at the battle for 15th or so, in the replay.

On the last lap coming onto the huge straight, Edgar spun and although he tapped me I was able to get by. At least until I ran out of fuel about half way down the straight. I thought I had plenty of fuel, but I guess the battle took a bit extra.
