Pacific FB: Limerock

so, sorry about kinda blowing a fuse there. I was/am pretty pissed about what happened.

I started dead last cause I couldn't get a time in during quali (too many blue flags), and during the start, I went from 18th to 13th at the end of lap 1. a few people ahead of me made mistakes or were just slow and I found myself in 6th.I was hunting down Tim for 5th place when I made a mistake and lost the car coming out of turn 3 and was down to 13th, I believe. I picked off the guy ahead of me for 12th, then I went to pass the guy for 11th place going into the uphill section, and he was on the outside, lost it, ran into me, and I flipped. I was furious!!!! then cause of the damage from the car being flipped, it spun on the exit of turn 3 again, and I bent an axle, then I had to make a 2 minute pitstop, and I went 26mph coming out of pits, and had to serve a stop-go pentalty. so yea, my race was pretty @#$%'d.

This race was another train wreck, for me. I know your thinking "How can you say that?! You finished 2nd!" but it was in my eyes. I started off very weak and had to defend for 3rd at the start. I got by Tristan somehow, I can't remember where or how, but I took another conservative plan an banked on David to crash. He did, coming over the crest he got squirly and put it into the wall. So I went into autopilot mode and cruised, just to keep Tristan about .5 seconds behind me. Then I got a little excited coming out of turn 2 and dipped the left rear into the dirt while letting off for turn 3. Bad idea. I dirt-tracked turn 3 and was lucky not to spin, but lost 1st and about a second to Tristan. I drove my heart out to catch him, but we were running the same pace and I couldn't make a dent in the gap. Then another problem, I got excited AGAIN in the same spot, but this time I made it all the way around and ended up backwards in the grass. Thank God Conor was a ways back, so I kept second, and took it real easy to the checkered.

Nice job, Tristan, I had nothing for ya. You earned that one, good one. BTW, how do you submit a picture? Do you have to have a payed-for membership? Just curious

Pretty damn good race for me. I was expecting a top-10 at best due to my perceived slow pace. Didn't expect the number of bobbles and crashes from folks in front of me. Kept it smooth, kept it as fast as I could manage. Tim turned on the nitrous at the end and slipped by during one of my few mistakes during the race, so I lost a potential 4th place finish, but no big deal. Still a top 5, and that's something I can be happy about.

In other news... cobbled together a quick little clip of something that happened right in front of me near the beginning of the event that got me chuckling at its absurdity. It may be a simulation, but that doesn't mean the physics won't sometimes get wonky.

A very dramatic race for me.

Lap 1 Tristan bumps Tom and lets him past, but I am right on Toms rear wing and even though I don't really want the position I have to follow him past Tristan anyway. I slow after the crest/jump but Tristan didn't take the run, so I had to let him by at the end of the main straight. Well, I didn;t HAVE to but that was my next best palce to let him past and not lose much time.
But that allows Conor to bridge the gap enough to matter.

That then causes a battle between Conor and myself and he squeezes me in Turn 2 and we clip and I spin. BAH. 4th to 12th (or might have been 16th even?)

The battle back through the field wasn't too hard as it turned out and Lap 5 I come across an apparently stricken David Banta, who can't run full pace. I think I was back to 6th then (or soon after).
I can't get past David in the windy section but I know his car has had it and it won't be too long. Then we come up to JCote who has spun off and is just resuming. So we both zip past him before the hill.
Up the hill David is struggling, so I am being held up sitting in behind him, but getting ready for a likely passing run after the hill, or down the main straight, and then JCote rams into me which canons me into David. David flies off in a spin, I get rear right suspension damage.

From then on the car was tricky to keep on track at fast pace. If the rear loads up too much it 'winds up' and then kicks out. It might have been then that I was 6th again.

Lap 12, every time over the jump is tough and finally gets the rear end to 'wind up' and kick me off track and the car flips down the grass. Now I have the whole left side damaged too! But at least it still drives!
A whole swag of cars coming so I can't resume racing until heaps have gone past. sigh.

Lap 14 onwards was a tough chase to try to get to 9th, with GMiller ahead. About Lap 20 I got past (might have passed twice and lost it back the first time I think). And off I went edging away and trying to see if I can catch 8th now.

Lap 25 the rear end 'winds up' once again, in the last turn, and kicks the car into a spin and I fly off into the barriers and get a left front puncture! sigh

Miller goes by, I am back in 10th, and only 1 lap to go so I limp around with the flat tire to finish.

What a race.....sheesh
Everything possible occured to mess it up...it must have been destiny!

I'd like to point out that the split difference between the slowest lap and fastest lap was a mere 2 seconds. I find that remarkable... if not for the mistakes, this would've been a virtual parade as everyone was very close in pace.

Just watched the replay, he DID flip himself! Hah! You have to understand why he was so upset though, in his cockpit it did 'feel' like someone punted him and flipped him.

That's a good reason to review replay before rushing to judgment.

Jon Bundy, I already sent you a PM but again I apologize for not giving a little. To the stewards, at the time I did not feel like it was a punt so I did not do a drive through, I still do not feel like it was a punt but if you see it that way I will accept whatever punishment you see fit.

UGH. I am getting so frustrated. No matter how hard I practice or how many laps I put in I am still several seconds behind the leaders. This is becoming less fun for me every race...

Oh, no, no... that wasn't the incident that frustrated Joseph so badly. The incident he was referring to happened coming over the crest.

BTW... starting in 17th and finishing 6th is nothing to shake a stick at, Jimmy. I thought you did great. :)

haha! I was just watching my imitation of a MotoGP bike on the replay. yea, I screwed up on the turn in (turned in a little too early), I hit the kerbs, and the inside just bounced in the air. when that happened, I did my best to keep from flipping and keep it on the track. 1 out of 2 isn't bad I suppose...

and yea, that wasn't the accident I was talking about. I was talking about an incident when I was passing Bryan Noelte going into the uphill section. I was on the inside, and he lost it on exit, and just slammed into me.

sorry about the tap Pete...and David. I was actually setting both of you up for a pass, and Pete unexpectedly got sideways off the kerb, he was too close for me to move anywhere, and we collided. but me and Peter had a good battle there for a bit until I spun off. I wonder what the person behind us was thinking when I went for the inside at the first corner, hah! I didn't mean to get sideways and everything, but it just happened that way and I'm glad I could keep it together. that was great fun!!! when I downshifted on the exit of the 1st corner, the stupid wheel went from 4th to 2nd, and it locked the back end up, which opened the door wide open for you to get by. good battle while it lasted.

Grats to Tristian and to everyone that survived.

My race was pretty uneventful. Had a shitty qual that started out by getting too much air at the chicane and eventually flipping over. It was potentially a very good lap too :(. That took some time getting back onto track and eventually got 6th place.

I got a really good start and took over 4th (Tommy C=DNS) and tried to stick with the front pack. Next lap, I was battling Peter. I passed him on the outside through turn 1 and I guess he stuck with me all the way through there. Coming to the very end of that long right hander, I turned in a bit too tightly and pinched Peter a bit. I pulled back to try and give him more room after making that mistake but it was too late, he was already in the process of spinning :(. Sorry about that, man.

After that, the race was pretty dull. I got up to 3rd after David crashing and spent the rest of the race by myself in that podium position. Not bad though, I'll take a podium anyday :).

well, i took pole at the very last second, and the track record with it :). in the race i got a good start and held off the rest going through the first few turns. by the end of lap 1 i had a second lead :) but on lap 5 the crest got me, but not quite sure how yet. as peter supected, my car was damaged, but i could still hold an ok pace. then the hill got me again when me and peter got together mid air causing my final crash.

oh well, it happens, can't finish them all. at least i stole pole and the record from Tristan to avoid a clean sweap *big shiteating grin* :)
