Not such a good final result for my race!
I expected to be in the top 5 lap time area and was. Though the top two times were about 1 sec faster than I expected!

Cars spinning off meant I got to 1st for a number of laps, but knew at least two cars were going to catch as they were faster. So I let them go as they caught and was happy to just sit in a safe enough 3rd spot.

But these cars have some nasty quirks in their physics (which I suspect the FBMW used the rF3 base for its physics also). The rear end can go spastic once it breaks free. The initial rear end snap is fine, but after that all real physics go out the window! So control and recovery are pretty well impossible. Which I expect is why so many people are having trouble and spinning wildly.
So as long as you stay away from that occuring it is all fine. Except to race fast you have to be right near that - and if it happens you are pretty well stuffed. You will lose more time than any great setup and driving will ever have made up for. eg 5 secs to 10secs out the window unnecessarily - and unrealistically.

I don't think I will continue racing them, I am not overly interested in racing some half spastic Mod car, but will give it one more go to see if anything makes it worth the waste of time. The prior F3's these were spawned from were far better physics from what I remember driving them. Something is badly amiss in the rear end of these, even the setup values needed to get a good balanced car are somewhat warped.

I was not part of this race, but I did notice the same problem in an f3 race I did last week. It is correctable, I was able to by turning into the spin, keeping the throttle in the same position, and getting hard on the brakes. Not sure how that relates to real world racing as I have not done any real racing yet...

As with any racing slick, the limit is found and exceeded very quickly. Slicks have gobs of grip until they exceed a very fine line. Once they are beyond that angle, your grip is reduced drastically. Overheat them, and the same applies.

Jimmy, what happens in your situation is that you are forcing the front brakes to lock as they probably have more brake pressure. When they are locked, they are at a loss of almost all grip... and a greater loss then your sliding rears. That will make the fronts slip back into line with your rears, saving yourself from a spin. It is common in all simulations actually, though I dont really see it used in real world racing.

The problem that happens in these is you get the snap and a slide/spin, but then sudden re-grip - which is the part that would not happen. You are correcting for the slide and then it flicks you back the other way...then it happens again when you are trying to correct that direction.
So using correct intuitive responses is no use and probably makes it worse.

If a rear engined car broke traction, in the 'snap spin' as it would, it would just keep going around. Then at some point 'blend' back into grip. Possibly with some suddeness due to slicks, though probably not as they would be so hot they would be slippery. But even if they did regrip suddenly then that would be that....you could drive on out of it.
This Mod gives some sort of 'reverse flick' response on that regrip which runs it to the other way again. Though probably partly tied in with the steering input they use in the calculations. Thus your 'correct' turning into the skid (counter-steering?) gets caught out big time on the sudden response change.
Possibly it is linked to FFB responses 'kicking' the wheel in incorrect manners to make you 'assist' it with wrong inputs/timing due to that mis-leading feedback? (could try running no FFB and see what happens).

It probably is best to just jam on the brakes and do a 4 wheel slide! At least the outcome of that will be more predictable. Except it will have brought you to a far greater time loss situation than driving out of it, as you should be able to do to some degree.

The F179's do not do this. And feel far more realistic.
I haven't driven all Mods but I don't know of any others than rF3 and FBMW that do the same, and many have slicks. (Formula Nippon seemed fine)(FBMW being based off rF3 I suspect).

It seems a way to offset it is to run stiffer rear roll setup than the front, thus creating sliding 'ease' for when it happens. But that reduces some of the rear end mechanical grip you could have had = lap time loss.
It would be good to know what real F3 setups have done to see if it relates. I'll have to see if I can find a real setup listed anywhere!
