Grand Prix of Bahrain

Got a great launch and made up a ton of spots off of the grid into T1. Made a mistake early and took myself out of 3rd into 5th. Then I goosed it too much and tore off the left front corner, knocking myself out of 5th position. Was able to make it back to the pits for repairs, but she wasn't the same. Looped it 3 times on my own after that and called it a day Fun while it lasted. Amazing cars, just wish I knew how to set them up. Hopefully, by the end of the season..... Sorry to drag your performance for the team down Francesco...

I should be booted out of the series. First, I mess up qualy, then I get off to a decent start, but after a few laps I spin out at the top of the hill and almost take out my team-mate in rejoining the track (For which I, correctly, received a warning from the steward). Then as I was about to get lapped (John, I think in a McLaren) I broke the cardinal rule of r2p and lifted a tad too early to help him and almost caused a disaster-- sorry my fault.
Then, cherry on the cake, when I come in to do my first pit stop, I come in like a bat out of hell, spin it and stall it. Of course, no starters and that's it. DNF and apologies to all those around. I could have gotten a point or two, I am sorry Bob. Briatore would have shoved a dozen cigarettes in his mouth, a helmet in mine, and kicked my rear from Bahrain to Montreal...

i could have done so much better that race.

but 1st OUCH MY BLOODY BACK RACING ON A WOODEN CHAIR!!

i qualified in 7th which was ok, found myself in 3rd but lap 2.

then had a few near misses as i was still adjusting from the V8s.

i had no rythem and self spun a could of times down to 12th i think.

i ws miles faster than the guys at the back and made a couple of passes, then then got to barry and over took him on the long straight. i might have put the brakes on a bit early and he hit me loosing my wing.

he did wait for me but i took me like a 1minute to get to the pit lane (no worries m8). after leaving the pit i was about 1:20 behind barry and got the gap down to 30seconds after remembering how to drive this car.

lost more self spins in my race.

on lap 48ish (for me) i unlapped myself against tim and i could see he was struggling.

so i decided to gun for it!

i was taking 10-12 seconds a lap of him until i made a slight mistake. coming up to lap 53 (for me) the gap was down to 15 seconds.

boost on 10 then i see the chequered flag NOOOO!!!11one

i needed 1 more lap :)

good race i think i will do a bit better next time as i will be sure to practice pre race instead of going from v8's to F1

WOw good Race... congrats survivors!!

My goals were to 1-finish the race and 2-get top10 . Luckily I got one of these. I got on the curb at the top of the fast S hill and spun then floated all the way to the wall, total destruction. I believe I stayed out of trouble and didn't hold anyone up. I got alot better at braking by the end of my race but still a ton of room for improvement in my braking and downshifting. I was not dissapointed but not proud of my performance, until the crash... only a few spins and one lost wing. Learned alot...see you next time!

Unbelievable result for me.

Planned to run for a bit, probably crash out as I could not do more than five laps in practice without spinning, then join UKGTR race in plenty of time.

Practice went as expected, 12th fastest I think, then qualified 5th, no problem I thought, different strategies and all that, they will be past.

However spent most of my time in top 4, only had two incidents to speak of, one laughing at JB as I lapped him and his expletive on Teamspeak, only normally happens when he has bent up a stock car so we were both amazed. Thanks for the setup by the way :-]

Settling for third with tyres seriously looking dodgy, although proof for the unsure that softs do last a whole race, when suddenly Aubrey slowed significantly. Made up 30 odd second in a few laps, but as Kirill had lapped us both ran out of time, one more lap would have done it.

But as I say, cannot believe I came third and really look forward to the next one.

Yeah,sorry Craig,car felt like a pig even in offline practice and having no idea how to fix it,just went with it.About the only thing i changed was the brake pressure to stop it locking up,so probably brake effectiveness was down.In the end,after i spun braking for a turn,my spotter told me i had a brake problem so got out before i wrecked someone.I hate dnf's so bad though.

I guess I blew qualifying. Just waited too long for a clear track. Must have crossed the line just after the checker as I had a very slow out lap, trying to take care of my brakes.

So I started at the back, but I got an amazing start. Found myself running 4th after a few laps. The cars just kept spinning off in front of me. I felt like Moses parting the Red Sea! :) Had a good battle with Nick until the pit stops. Not sure what happened after that, but then my brakes failed about 3 laps from the end. Don't know what I could have done to prevent that. I had max brake discs and ducts, minimum brake pressure, and no damage. I let a lapped Tim go past until I realized he had the same problem, and then we had a little cripple-fight. :)

Good way to start the season off for me! hehe. Thought I was in serious trouble by the times in practice. But thankfully, I had the strategy to make the best of it.

Was great racing all the way through. Had some good battles with all the pressure from behind me. Some got by, some didn't. haha. But after pitting my first time, I was making ground again quickly. And then I was sure my strategy would pay off.

I figured most of ya's quallied light and would run heavy later. So I opted for consistent instead. (And kept all the necessary bits of the car intact too!)

Found myself in 5th after 2nd stop with big gaps ahead and behind so I thought that might be it. Just cruise to the finish. But Tim suddenly slowed and gifted me 4th! Thanks Tim. Your a sport. hehe.

All in all a nice start. But I think I might need more speed next time......
Grats on the win Krill, and Aubrey too. Seeing as you both LAPPED me!

Hm, can't say my heart was in it with the Ducks game going on today. :D I had the DVR all set, was going to watch it after the race, but fate had other plans for me today.

Ran some errands at the grocery store after the V8 race, lost track of time, got home and saw the clock said 11:33. Doh, qual already started. Jumped right on the server, but in my rush, forgot to reboot the computer. Normally, I do a nice clean reboot before the F1 races, they are so graphics heavy, I need to start clean.

So manage to scramble at the end of qual and grab some laps just to get in a rhythm, felt okay. Noticed FPS were sluggish.

Formation lap confirmed my concerns. So took it easy on the start, and let the cars thin out a bit. I think Ryan and Aubrey sandwiched me in a beautiful F22 Raptor low level formation flyby on the start. ;)

Settled behind Francesco. On lap 1, I made my one and only pass. See my snazzy screenshot. Francesco got a little on the dirty stuff at the top of the hill in turn 13, I got heavy on the brakes and snuck under him, he held his line, I held mine. He got a good draft on the next straight, took a peek at the inside on the braking zone, but I held him off.

Next lap I swung a bit wide on the last turn, got caught with a wheel in the grass, and spun it. I let everyone by, but realized the car was dead. WTF! Doh, in my rush to get on the server, I must have accidentally hit the keyboard and turned off autoclutch. AAARRRRRGGGGH.

Oh well. Shame, I was on hards and heavy fuel strategy, and by the looks of the lap times, I could have had some real fun with Dean. His lap times look identical to my full length 50 lap practice last night. :P I actually got to spend some time studying the setups on these things before S5, looks like I've found some speed finally with these bastards. Looking forward to Montreal ... a month away. Oi.

Outside pole was a bit of a surprise to me today, but I was happy to be there with that super-tight turn-1.

Start went perfect for me, a great launch and I thought I;d get the lead by the braking zone. My great start was puss-filled compared to Allen's who was a rocket at the line and passed both Kiril and me to take the lead.

I held 2nd behind Allen only to toss it all away at the top of the hill. Cold tires and heavy braking, and I looped it falling back into the back half of the field. Slowly worked my way up (many I must have had a lot less wing then you all!) and hit my first stop like clockwork. Blasted back out and eventually found myself in 4th with what I thought was a good chance at a podium.

10 laps or so from the end I hit a heavy braking zone and immediately notice the car's over-reaction to something. I thought I had blown a rear tire, so I slowed for a half lap while I navigated through my hud to figure it out. Saw nothing so got going back at speed, only to spin again at the top of the hill. This time it was obvious...

My right-front brake had failed. I still had the left front and the rears which meant any use of the brakes resulted in a huge pull to the left. I got use to it and motored on in an attempt to limp home with a top-4 still. Three laps later the left-front brake failed and I was out there with rear brakes only. Pitted as I needed a splash of fuel anyway and did what I could to hold a points paying spot. Spun a few times with the lack of front brakes, but no contact.

Barely held onto 6th at the end, a lap behind my team-mate.

Huge attrition this race. Not totally surprised by that actually, this long of a race in these cars (with those stupid-fragile brakes)... we will be seeing alot of these attrition numbers. Hell, I was way backed down on revs and braking the whole race and still blew both front brake rotors by 3/4 race distance.
