UKFormula 400K

I have been sick for last few days so it was not hard for me to find the escape key and bow out. I need a lot more practice than what I had before this one.

What a stupid race for me... i wasnt that slow, but handling sucks in this car a lot! And i lost a lot since i was always infront/behing the vette...

Done a great pass on conor and rory. But then spinn again, @#$&% this car... Then coming out of pits i think i was quite good at that point, doing a nice lap, and engine decided to blow up on me, so just stoopid, shouldnt even bother with this thing anymore!!!

Lost another engine. I had controller issues right from the start when my wheel lost sync as I hit the grid, but I stayed in it anyway. Was just going easy too, because I didn't have the feel in the wheel I like. Didn't matter once I saw the flames in the rearview, then I disco'd without warning. At least I was able to see if my new PC build was up to it, and so far it is.

Mmmkay:

P1, P2, Q, W, start, pitstop 1, pitstop 2, race finish after 83 laps. Car great for the whole race, driver bog slow.

Poor qualy setup, decent race setup, but obviously 50*C track temp. is too much for Ferrari V12s sometimes... the cooling capacity was at max, my revs weren't high, though I should have been shortshifting more often.

I had just passed Enis for 2nd after his mistake at Acqua Minerale, and my engine went poo.

That 'moment' where I randomly lost six seconds was when I was trying to pass Conor into Tosa. I planned to pass on the right, he thought I planned on the left. We both swerved to our rights at the same moment and I almost careened into him! Safety before speed I suppose; I'm happy I reacted fast enough not to cause an incident.

Congratulations Nuno, and fun times Enis... We were back and forth the whole way until my expiration.

I brought her home for ECCI. That was my goal. Anything after that was just sweet frosting on the cake.

Congrats to all the podium positions and to everyone that brought em home. Tough track.

Quali:
Pretty poor performance. Some of it is due to my fault, some due to traffic, in particular GT1 driver loosing it and then not wanting to let me by. No biggie though. Got 3rd in the end, which wasn't that bad.

Race:
Devastating event for me. I was fighting car so much it was insane. Really tough race.

In first stint Fish went away from me at alarming pace, Nuno was just flying. Tristan was alway real close to me, so I had to keep my concentration at highest.

Since I didn't have almost any practice I had to learn the track in the race, which was painful experience.

Coming out of the pits, I was on Fish's ass, and after lap and a half of reeling him in I passed him. Menaged to get away, not much though. At the end of the 2nd stint I started to loose concetration, and Tristan went by (yes, after some 55 laps we were still 5-10 seconds apart), only to blow his engine lap or two later. Tristan, it was fun battling you. Nuno? He was on another planet.

Exited my 3rd pits with 52 second advantage, don't know where you lost all that time David. 3rd stint was a real nightmare. Now that no one pushed me I had a really hard time concentrating, even to the point I lost concentration completely and just stared at the monitor for a couple of second which was enough to went off. Fortunately didn't loose too much. I slaped myself couple of times to wake up.

Congrats Nuno, brilliant performance, I didn't have anything for you today. Congrats Kent. Congrats survivors.

Sadly, this was a horrible race for me. Didn't get any practice all week so I got up early to get practice in before the race. But the cable was out. And then the electricity went out! It was about 15 minutes before qual started that everything came back on. Needless to say, I was ill-prepared to say the least. :\

That set the tone for the remainder of the race. Well off pace by a couple seconds per lap, multiple spins, rarely encountering any races for position. Finally culminating in a crash/DNF. Apologies to Conor and So-Cal for a piss poor performance on my part. I don't think I'll drive the 911 for quite some time. It and I certainly don't play nice with one another.

ahem...with that said, I had a good race. I'll take a podium finish anyday :)...but still, I hate overpowered Volkswagens!

Prior to this race, I've never performed well here at Imola so its no wonder why I struggled with a setup. Right before qual, though, I threw a different damper package on it and for the last 5 min of practice, the car handled really well.

Qual was great (ironically :P). I tied my best starting position ever in GT-I competition with a 3rd place :).

The first stint of the race was rather hectic for me. It started off pretty well but after a few laps my car started getting loose from the extremely hot track which brought the others behind me closer. I soon realized that I made a costly gear ratio mistake as Rory and the rest always got a run on me coming out of corners since my car was always sluggish out of them. Still, I held my ground for a long time, trying to make the car as wide as possible :). After a long while, though, GT cars started really aggravating our battle and I lost my 3rd position to Janko and Rory coming out of Villeneuve. So...I settled in, and soon picked up 4th place after a Janko spin in the final chicane.

After the stops, Rory and I appeared to have made the same length of a stop since we came out at the same distance as we went in, roughly 5 seconds. I switched to hard rears from medium rears on that stop because of the hot temps so I pushed harder. I did end up catching Rory but it took a hell of a long time. With traffic all around us, I made one pass on him going into sector 3 but gave the position up on a near spin coming out of the final turn. I settled in behind him and chased him awhile about 1-2 seconds back. That came to an end with about 30 min left when my car violently bounced itself off the track and into the grass at the second chicane. I lost about 5 seconds to Rory right there and wasn't able to catch back up to him because of a worn out car/driver. Around that time, though, Ari blew up which put me back into a podium position and from then on, I just struggled home :).

Grats to the winners...great racing Rory, Janko, and Tolga. Had a lot of fun out there with ya :).

WOW!!

Two races for Team ECCI with a substitute driver and in both the sub pulls off a podium finish!! Fantastic David!! And qualifying in P2 to boot!!

Maybe I should hang up my GT-I hat and just let the subs handle the rest of the season? LOL!
