Alright, I admit it... that was a lot more fun then I expected. Im not super fod of these cars, but Tommy and i had a great battle going before I dipped a tire under braking in T1 and blasted the armco. After that I tried a few more laps to gain Tommy's position and pulled off course to get out of the way.

Well i'm glad we finally ran these cars, they are a blast. As to my race, I have to say i had a huge advantage over most everyone else considering how much i have run these cars. i must have around 1000 laps at kyalami alone. I grabed pole with a 1:08.1xx which i was reasonibly happy with but i was hoping for a 1:07.

In the race i got the jump and pretty much pulled away. I ran mostly laps in the mid 1:09's but i was aiming for a lap in the 1:08's. Honestly the car was not that good, it had a very bad push on corner exit until i would use the gas the break the tires a little loose.

This will probably be my last win for a long time here considering my past record, but i'm happy to get one finally. Especially against a GTNDC driver like Sam.

Nice to run these cars again , allthou i have to say i was way off the pace and i was a bit disapointed of my driving today. I find this track very challenging and difficult , specially the last sector is tough.
For some reason i didn't get the car to turn properly and on top of that i had way too much fuel , still 25 liters onboard after the race was over :p .

We had a good battle for some time with Tommy , but after a while he got into troubles and then i had 10 secs gap both way. Later in the race my pace got little better when car got lighter and started to turn better , but David was clearly faster and 2nd place was the best i could get today.

I blame GTR2 for this , yeah...that must be it :D :p ...

Congratulations to David , good pace and nice solid run through the race made you untouchable today 8).

I don't like these cars. They're butt-ugly, and drive only slightly less ugly. But I had a good time, I think.

I passed Joe on the start when he bogged down. He picked up on my tail and I could hear him back there as we went around the course and back onto the front straight. Sure enough, eventually, suddenly, I see him pop into that dang near useless mirror and make the pass into Turn 1.

I tracked Joe about a second off his back for the next 24 laps. A couple times I got up on him, but it was going to take Joe making a mistake for me to make the pass. And, well, Joe placed ahead of me by about a second.

Good run Joe, and congrats to David for the win.

I was planning on just staying in the back and out of trouble, but once the tires came in I got greedy and started to drive it over my head. Was going pretty good, but left sides off on the grass with these cars proved disasterous. I tried to make my way back to the pits, but the suspension was tweaked, and the leaders were bearing down on me so I esc'd. Being 5 secs off the pace should have told me to park it after qual anyway.

as usual, you all know something i dont. everyone in the field was in a ferrari except myself. i was in the ligier.

i was pokey on the greens. these beasts are real easy to spin on standing starts especially on cold tires. btw, i thought the F1 start procedure was really cool. todd duked it out with me for the entirety of the race, and his clean driving and persistence made it that much more enjoyable.

this is a terrific mod guys. you really should consider getting it. it is even more fun w/ a full field. the tailing car can really draft up in the car ahead in a crowded field.

Joe, I'm faster in the Ligier than the ferrari, and if i was in the Williams i may of been running a full second a lap faster in the race. I was shocked that everyone choose the Ferrari, I was sure most people would have driven the Williams or Ligier. my whole plan was to run the car that I thought would be on of the least popular. Guess i made a miss judgement.

thanks DB. i've only driven the ligier - the computer gave me it when i loaded the mod the first time. is there any significant difference b/n the cars? the full mod will apparently have the entire field for 1979.

tim, any chance of running this @ northhamptonshire nee silverstone and perhaps making this an ongoing series?

Yes Joe, in the near future for sure. I wont bother doing it for a "mod-demo" but once the full release and it's string of inevitable patches are completed... surely!

Still, we can set up more of these no problem.

Man, I have a hard time with these cars. Once I realized that I'd been running the wrong physics up until qualifying, things got better, but at that point I didn't have any time to make any tweaks to tune the car to my liking. Cracked a high 1:08 in qual which I was plenty happy with having never gotten out of the 10's in race trim. Qual tires sure help a bit. :)

I was having fun trying to keep up with Sam, but just couldn't hang on long enough. Later on a spin and wall encounter fubar'd the car and pit stops couldn't make it better. It all ended when I accidentally clipped a pit box heading into the pits. I don't know why it was catastrophic! Afterall, I was adhering to the 186 mph pit speed limit! :)

Regarding the Ferrari, it's the only car I've driven in the game. I have/had no idea if the physics were different from car to car.
