Estoril 330K

Not a good way of saying bye to s5 gto lol. Yea it was last gto race and i wanted to have fun.

Till first pits George chased me closely, gap never be higher than 4 secs for whole 40 mins. After pits when tyres got their temps the story repeated, George was too close again till 2nd pits. After 2nd pits i think George changed only 2 tyres or none. So it was easy to catch and pass him. I made a comfortable gap while 30 mis left. In a lap in last sector car slid and got caught by the gravel. Car stuck there and i lost nearly 30 secs to get to track again. etc etc. lol

I enjoyed that for some reason - I didn't really see anyone, but I've never got on too well with Estoril and I enjoyed getting the RSR round it.

I made a few mistakes which dropped me back from Darren, but the gap stayed reasonbly constant.

Towards the 90 minute mark something clicked and my laptime came down to what I had been hoping to run all race, and I started making up chunks of time on Darren. Sadly, one off whilst watching my rearview as some GT1s came past put me in off the circuit, and the time I lost was enough to see Darren to the podium.

This being my 3rd 2hr race - I'm starting to adjust to it all now - I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes at Spa (and indeed if the missus will talk to me after I spend another hour in race).

Thanks to all the GT1's - very patient with what is a difficult track to lap on.

My engine broke in the last half of race :-(
What should I say, I had so many races with the Porsche and never had engine problems. Temps were ok, dont know why this happened. At the first half I had some nice fighting with Tom until a GT pushed my rear and I spinned off. Some kind of missunderstanding I think. I had all the race problems with the last turn (Senna) and a win was not to expect. Then after pitstop my engine went off, I couldnt believe it lol.

But no surprise for me, Estoril was always an unlucky place for me hehe

Good race for me.Could be nightmare(Michael Chriss , learn to overtake mate,not when you want but when it is safe and whey you can.You could easily ruin my race when you knocked me.

First stint was bad choice choosing hard rear tires.I was wrestling with my car last 30min or so.Rear end was sliding all the way and lap times was not that good.
Second stint showed better when I picked med rear tires.

Congrats to all both podiums and to the finishers. Very sad to see my main men have a rough day in Der Porkas.

Relatively happy just to finish. My focus for the week had been on my beloved F1-79 race and with how that ended last night, I was pretty concerned about today. I am worse here than I am at most other tracks.

The first stint was a hoot for awhile with Mr. Morissette until he disappeared over the horizon. I thought we were just racin' and I hope you perceived it likewise. Otherwise, the race was a real struggle wrestling the Bull around this place. Car just fell off during the last half of stints and the radiator decision was too conservative. Glad it is done and glad to get to the end. One of these years I'll figure out how to manipulate this car and pit stops to gain an advantage rather than destroy myself with them.

I had huge expectations for this race, I felt my pace was near the front in practice, I qualy 2nd, my best this season, as we take the Green flag I get a run on scott, knowing i cannot catch the ferrari I back off going into T1, I begin my braking 75M before usual and he brakes even sooner, we touch, or more like i hit him :( so then i get hit; And now there are 2 guys serving the NEW drive thru first lap penalties :( From here is is damage control. I begin clicking off laps and get loose coming off of senna and loop it, tap the wall and hit pit road for service a few b/4 scheduled but I felt i was better to be safe than sorry. This race was pretty hard at the end to stay focused, and a big round of applause to every nGT car out the for making passes easy and un-eventful.

I had a couple of great battles with Michael and 1 more problem with...yes, Scott again, Man I am sorry, I don't know what the deal was, it seemed that only your car i would close up on under braking faster than any other GT or nGT car, it didn't make sense.

Lastly, I have fired all of my crew b/c i found out they worked for nigel stepney, first pit stop was 68 seconds, second was 78 WTH? If i have to wait 78 seconds this car better sip fuel from a sippy cup; but it uses the 750 double pumper carburetor with the power NOT to pass all at once, unreal.

Well - after a number of weeks attempting to resolve my pc issues I managed to finally complete a race without my pc freezing up on me.

Now, I have to say that it was a blast to race...i didn't bother to run much in qualifying as I had to figure out a pit strategy and make sure i had enough fuel so I started effectively from the back.

There were a couple of good battles and for the most part the GT's were very patient. I haven't seen the replay yet but there seem to be one or two GT drivers who think that passing at the NEXT available opportunity, not at the SAFEST available opportunity was the way around the slower drivers.

That being said the only thing I had a problem with was steadily decling FPS. I started in the 100's range and ended in the 40FPS range...not bad, but it certainly points to something unusual so more troubleshooting is on the way.

I used to hate Estoril with a passion, but today's race was really a blast to run. I'm glad to be back racing with you all here and hope I can make it last.

I had a good race in my class. Next time Marko gets a PorscheCup car, ok? He'll be faster in it, no doubt.
At first I could keep up with Roman and Marko. After Roman made a small mistake I passed him, then built a small gap of 10 seconds. He went to pit even before half. I extended my first stint to 1 hour and 10 minutes to have my pit-crew spend less time putting fuel in. Nonetheless Roman was ahead 10+ seconds when I came out. How I lost 20 seconds in my pitstop is beyond me!? Was pushing after him, but the gap just kept growing. Then I saw him quit. How did you blow your engine, Roman? I never had any problems with Porsche engines, not even in GTR1. Then it was boring, hotlapping.
Good show for the Legends, 2,3,4th place.
GTs were ok, mostly patient and in the absence of close racing I could afford letting them past even in slow corners. At one time my rear mirror was showing GT is gonna ram me and I kept postponing breaking point so that I ran out of track. The replay showed an entirely different picture, so I look a bit silly to myself for running out like that.

After the troubles Scott, Jeff and Dennis had in T1 I found myself running in 2nd behind Tolga. This situation remained during 2 stints of 40 minutes. Then I made a huge mistake taking only new fronts at the 2nd stop. The 7 seconds I won by that were gone after 3 laps and the car was like driving on ice with huge oversteer. I promised myself NEVER to do that again. Guess we'll never know if it cost me the win but Scott and Dennis went by like I was standing still and only Tolga's problems at the end of the race helped me to finish in 3rd. Compliments to the nGT-drivers. Had no problems at all to pass.
