USA GT: Spa

'grats to John for the win, Micheal for the 2, and Dennis for the 3rd in race and the season championship.

i really screwed up the start. appologies to all around me on the grid.

first race with my new G25, and with the grid on a hill, there were just too many pedals involved. i actually forgot to put the car in gear -- or maybe it was my head that wasn't in gear. i don't know.

other than that, i set the car up primarily for Blanchimont and Eau Rouge. i knew i'd have a problem with power-oversteer if i wasn't patient with cold tires. i wasn't disappointed in that and managed to spin myself several times. i also managed to spin on the "straight" heading into Pouhon, as i was checking tire temperatures and dropped a couple wheels into the grass.

not a pretty race.

but the wheel feels great. i had far more control over my braking, and my car car could do Blanchimont flat-out all race as long as i pointed it right.

then on the last lap i did Eau Rouge better than i ever have, leaving me close to 5 10ths better in the first sector than my previous best lap -- on very worn tires.

kinda like golf i guess. it's the few great shots that keep you coming back for more torture.

Quali could have been better but my start was ok. At Les Combes it got a bit scary with Dennis but we both managed to get through. After that I was in 3rd for about 7 laps chasing Michael. Then I made a big mistake in Eau Rouge. Result ... a puncture and a long limp back to the pits. Too early to finish the race after that so I came in again on the planned lap to get the fuel I needed. Didn't take new tyres cos I had to try something to get back into the race. That worked fine. Got passed Ricardo and Les' disco brought me 5th place. In the last laps my gap to Barry was closing fast all of a sudden but I ran out of laps to challenge him for 4th. Overall a nice race on a great track. And it is even more if you have actually been there. Grats to John on a great win and to Michael and Dennis for getting on the podium. A few weeks without intense racing will be a good thing but I can't wait for S6 to get started. Yes ... I admit ... I'm an addict. :-)

Qualified 2nd just behind Bobby. I knew my race car was very good and pretty much knew if I could get to turn 2 in the lead I have a good chance to win. I got a good start and lead into eau rouge, but bobby's 550 powered past me on the up hill section like I was standing still, damn! Bobby went wide into turn 4 and I was able to slip under him and lead into the next corner. From there I was able to pull away little by little then a few laps later Bobby pitted and then dissapeared. I had a 6 second gap to Micheal then and was able to pull away steadily lap by lap. So good is the lambo on its tyres that its still great at the end of a fuel run. I pitted and resumed the lead. Nothing exciting after that, although I crapped myself when I hit a disco'd Les 550 into the double left hander. I lost 10 seconds there but the car was still driveable. So I drove it home.

Congrat to Michael for 2nd and Dennis for third and the championship.
