nGT | G3 Sprint

This race was a blast. Scott and I battled for last place until the last 7 laps or so. My tires were worn, and when he (in the Lotus) got ahead of me (in the Vertigo), he was gone, the Lotus is faster in the corners, I couldn't catch up with him. Then on the last lap my radio guy warns me about my worn tires, I was losing time every lap in those last 5 laps. But it was fun! I almost didn't finish last! heheh

Interesting race for me. I went with the Porsche RS and later found out that everybody else was pretty much running RSR so i thought i was fucked but i grabbed the pole with a 59.7 to my surprise. The start to the race was pretty stupid on my part. Either the first lap or the 2nd lap coming onto the front straight, i missed-shifted going into the final turn which made me slide out past the curb. That in turn got me really loose and while i was trying to save it, i slammed into Claus and that sent me into the wall. Luckily, he kept going and i ended up spending about 20 secs trying to turn the damn thing back on since i stalled it. Finally, it fired and i was maybe about 12 secs behind the 2nd to last place car so my goal then was to see how many positions i can pick up with the RS. I spent the entire race just pushing myself and the car to the limits. I was hanging it wide and sliding the thing like i stole it and finally finished in 4th. Not too bad IMO... :)

Of course it was a good race for me, I got lucky and was faster then Krueger for a change. Race started with a good fight between Kru and myself, but he got into another fight with Cory allowing me to pull away. Just drove it clean to the end from there.

Congrats to Cory on his best finish so far with us... finish ahead of Sam is a hell of a feat. Well done.

What a fun race! I came in last minute (literally) in the Elise and just planned on putting in some time behind the wheel. Well, turns out Chip was running the Vertigo and didn't quite have a handle on the car so I was able to actually keep up and make a race of it. I struggled for 20 minutes just inching closer and closer until I was able to take advantage of Chip in the infield when he went wide. I'll tell ya though, I had to flog that little Elise like a race horse on Steroids to get by him though! Just goes to show that you can still have a good race even if it's only for fighting for last place!

Sheesh! I ended up in 2nd place with what I thought was a good setup turned out to be a very lousy one. I fought the setup the whole time with half of the track it would push all the way through the tunrs and the other half with oversteer. It was wicked but managed to keep Tommy in sight but not CJ, he was gone, not even a trace of his vacuum after only 3 or 4 laps so I hung in 3rd and never seen anyone behind me. Then with only 8 or so min left what I seen was Tommys car sitting in the middle of the track and when I tried to avoid him I ended up tagging him only to find 2 turns later there he was again in the middle of the track just sitting there...huh? Apparently he got discoed :( So I ended up finishing 2nd.

I entered this race just to get some GTR 2 racing in, trying to see how it was. I really didn't know what the difference between the cars was, so I just clicked around until I found a cool yellow 360 and went with it. Spent practice getting the brakes to what I like, used the Qual session to practice it and went for it. I was surprised I was able to hang with Dean 2-4 secs back for quite a while in 6th, and pulling away from Tim all the time. Then all of a sudden the tires went completely to shit, and I found myself losing sight of Dean and started to see Tim in my rearview. Wasn't long I had to start thinking about moving over for him, and maybe even pitting for new rubber. I let Tim by and made the mistake of staying out for 1 more lap. I ended up hitting everything but the lottery, so I had to pit. Fucked up even further by speeding coming out of the pits, got black-flagged, and decided to go to bed.

Yeah, I was cruising around in 2nd and running some good laps (for me) considering I'd only run a dozen or so laps here before the race. Fun little track. And it was interesting to feel how the tires were wearing in GTR2, i.e. much more realistically than in GTR, IMO.

Then at some point I notice my HUD said I was 5th of 12 cars. WTH? Then the time gap between me and first place starting jumping around (just like GTR will do). I made a comment about it on Ventrilo and heard nothing. Next I hear the "just disconnected from Ventrilo" sound. Then as I'm being told in GTR2 that my connection has been lost I not only get brought back into Ventrilo, but placed back into the same channel! Say what??

I don't know what caused it. Ventrilo's been rather flakey for me lately and I may try re-installing it. It just seemed like a momentary connection glitch. Why in the world would it log be back into Ventrilo automatically and even put me back into my same channel? That's WEIRD!

Anyway, sorry it caused you grief, Barry. :( Obviously wasn't intentional! ;)

On the plus side, while my FPS weren't "good" it was for the most part adequate as was the smoothness of the graphics. That's a first for an online GTR2 race for me. Of course, this was a teensy tiny track and only had 12 cars on it.

After the disco I just decided to take a break from racing for the night.

Had a blast as well. GTR2 is giving us some great races!Didn't bother practicing for these two, so of course, I have no set-up! Doh. But the default felt just fine.......so I tweaked it minorly, and went with it.

Started from the back because it seems EVERYONE is flying. hehe. Spent the first 8 laps or maybe more trying desperately to get around Tom! Nice racing bud, you were really holding your own there. A few times I was going to go through when you slid but decided disgression would be better. Besides, I was having fun chasin' ya. Then once you let me through, I immediately proceeded directly off the track instead!! Moron. LOL. Gathered myself back up, and chased him down again. This time was much easier though, as we came across a little traffic at the perfect moment for ME! And I was through.

After that, I was just driving around. Next car was about 25 secs ahead and not changing. crap. But my position kept dropping anyway, so I didn't say anything. Quietly tiptoed myself onto the podium. Thank you very nice...next please.

Grats on the win Claus. I hear the Elise is fun to drive........

WOW, I need to quit saying and writing about the "best" online race I have ever had LOL. It seems I keep out doing them. This race was a blast. I ran the WHOLE race with Sam and man was it fun!! It started wierd as when I went to grid I noticed my wheel had ZERO FFB. I was like OH MAN! Turns out I was pretty damn fast that way and it just felt better. So now I am not sure what the hell to do with my wheel.

Back to the race. Sam and I traded places a few times but I mainly chased him waiting for that one mistake. Problem was he made a few to let me through and I turned around and did the same stupid mistake and let him go back around me. My car seemed to corner a little better than his BMW, I was carrying a lot more speed it seemed. It was so fun waching him hang that rear end out...he was sliding it a lot. Should be a good replay to watch. I made a somewhat brave move to the inside of him on the last turn before the last lap, I had been able to carry more speed into and through that corner the whole race but he would always pass me on the straight as he was way faster down the front. This time he tried to get a good run coming out and got loose and went wide allowing me a good little gap to finish the last lap for my first ever podium :)

Thanks everyone fun stuff!! Now what to do about a non FFB wheel ;)

Decided to try that Z3 and man it turned out to be a fun car , lots of revs and great drifting capabilities :D . Took medium tires to front and hards into rear to be able to drift through the 30 mins and rears took it fine , problem was fronts which lost the grip on last laps.

We had good fight going on through the race with Cory , he was faster in corners but i had clearly better topspeed due the minimal wing settings and BMW power :D, so usually i could get away in mainstraight and just try to stay on track the rest of the way. Tried to wear those rears to keep the car balance drivable , but no matter how hard i drifted , the frontend was loosing grip towards the end.

Then in the 2nd last lap i once again had some problems turning in to the last corner and i went wide , not much but it killed my exit speed , so Cory was able to overtake me. I knew if he was going to get into 1st corner before me , it would be impossible to catch him again and so it went , Cory pulled away easily in the tight section and build a nice gap before we got back into main straight and that was it.

Cant say i'm terribly disapointed , since the fight was really fun ;D and my preparations to this race was minimal , but would have been nice to finish ahead of Cory anyway ;p.. maybe next time then .. :D
