GT | G2 Sprint

At first I chose the Mosler, but just before qual left and changed to the Seat. Should've kept with the Mosler. I found the Seat to be very loose, way to easy to spin the backend around. After adjusting the brake bias it was a bit better, but it seems to want a delicate hand/foot to drive it, I just don't have that. I spent the whole race at the back, even as much as 1 minute gap. Then in the last two laps the gap came down in a real hurry, I knew whoever was ahead of me was pitted. I came around and was just about to beat G to corner one but he got the inside track and powered on for the second to last spot. Again, I was sooooo close to not finishing last. One of these days...

Grrrrrr!!! I really wanted to race this one to test out the Vette but my connection with GTR kept giving out (obviously at the wrong time) and missed the warm up session. I did, however, lay down a pretty good qual lap in the mid 1.31s but not nearly close enough to Claus who got into the 1.30s. I would have been just happy enough to try and keep up with him and battle with the rest of the field in the slow ass Vette but oh well.....till next time :(

I did a little testing earlier in the day and "felt" like I was going fast enough to compete... but as it turns out I was well off pace in the GT field. Scott, myself, and Tom Rue had a good race the entire time which kept it exciting. The Saleen had this weird off-throttle-understeer and bad on-throttle-oversteer that made it very hard to control at times. Default setup will do that I guess :)

On a whim I joined up this race in the Vette. Man I'm glad I did. With only a very few adjustments I was able to settle into the car like I had been driving it for ages. This is the first time I've driven something other than the Elise in race conditions and it really opened my eyes to just how much Simbin has changed the tire model for GTR2.

With GTR1, it was always just a matter of winging it when it came to setting up a car and just hanging on for the race. Tonight I was able to actually "feel" how I had set the car up a little on the loose side and would think mid turn "Wow, if I could have just unwound the wheel just a tad sooner, I could have maximized the grip coming out of the corner". I felt so much more in tune to what the car was telling me than I have felt in... well, for as long as I can remember. I could drift the car into the first corner and make a small mid corner adjustment with the wheel or throttle and put her exactly where I wanted to. It was a great feeling.

I have to agree with what Tim said in a different post about GTR2 "feeling" more like real life than GTR1. I've read the comments to about how it's "easier" or "too easy" to drive, and I say, "It should". The car is behaving more like you would EXPECT it to, so it SHOULD feel easier.

Anyway, I digress. The point is, tonight's race just drove home to me how much FUN racing can be. I lost sight of that with GTR1.

What Conor said "Grrrrr"! FPS probs again and it waited until the race started, Had a good setup and it looked like me and Dean were going to have a good race then about 3 laps into the race BLAM 14 fps and it was all I could do to keep it on the track but fought it as long as I could only this time somthing different happened. After I went into the pits and sat there I decided to go back out with only 5 min left in the race it cleared up and back to 50-70 fps. Go figure huh?

Kinda lonely here in G2 class. Too bad Barry, that was going to be good. We were nose to tail for the first few laps, and I certainly expected it to stay that way. LOL. Then your car became erratic so I backed off a little. Sure enough, you slid off on the next corner. Bummer. After that, I drove for 30-40 laps by myself (feels like). The only thing I could do was to try and see if I could finish the race without being lapped by the GT's. But Claus and Sammy RUINED that for me on the second last lap. haha.

They got by me without any trouble, but both Ari and Conor(I think) lost it right behind me. In seperate incidents I might add. Not sure why because I was watching both of you in the rear view, and was ready to let ya's through??? Hope you guys don't think I was making it hard for you! Just the opposite is true actually.

Grats to Claus...... again. Did you try the Elise yet?

Oh wait a minute! Who's that handsome guy listed underneath Claus in the WINNER'S BOX!! Looks like being lonely in G2 isn't so bad afterall!

ah yeah... Almost forget this one...

Well , not much to say , got the 1st place for few early laps , but then CJ got into rhythm and took his place again.

CJ was pulling away at the same rate as i was pulling away from Ari , so it was pretty lonely race at the 2nd place. For some reason i found this Dubai track very hard to learn , i keep on mixing it to Zhuhai track :P .
