Euro G2: Estoril

Went fairly OK until last pitstop when game decided that I need more fuel which cost me some 20 seconds extra and a heavy car for last stint. What's not meant to be is not going to be.

Well I forgot AGAIN there are 2 mandatory pit stops.

Fortunately this time I realised that my elevated position was not due to my supreme driving skill but the fact everyone was takin pit stops.

Had a nice tussle with Roman on the last couple of laps and just finished a car length behind him.

Barry remind me about the pits stops next time will ya ;-)

Good race for me.
Although I prepared 30min or so for this race it went good.Close qual, wining pole with small margin.
First stint was bad tactics driving soft/med , which was ok for 10min, but after that understeer.After that I changed to med/med and ran in some trafic where I lost about 5sec or more.Sorry I touched someone at that last chicane.
And last stint was ok.

I am not very familiar with this Sim. I have had it for a good while but haven't reloaded it on my computer until this week when Chris asked for someone to fill in for him when he went to the British GP. I pulled in for my scheduled pit stop at 20mins and the pit board popped up. Hum...forgot what to do with it so I hit the escape key..DOH!...wrong move...now I'm DNF. Sorry for holding you up Chris. I didn't realize it was you and when you did go by I realized...DOH!...I'm holding up my own team mate.

Quali was so so. But getting tapped after turn 3 from lap 1 didn't help at all to fight for the lead in the championship. That dropped me back to 18th. :-( After that it was trying to catch up and that went ok. Was happy to pass Pete a few laps from the end, to finish in 6th and to extend my lead with one point. On to the next one. :-) Grats to the podium and especially to James for a great 2nd in his first race here.

What not to do.Go out the night before the race,get pissed,sleep thru the alarm,arrive at the server just before warmup.As most of my races start around the 4.30am mark,getting to bed pissed after 12.00am is not recommended.I like to give myself time to have a couple of cups of coffee,at least 4 cigarettes,so with a coffee in one hand,cigarette in the other,i hit the grid.While for the most part,i was well off my practice times,i managed to stay on track and pick up some vital positions.

I took too much fuel and dont think my strategy was great. The 5 lap stint I did with just changed rears was really awful. After my 2nd stop I was safely 2nd but I had nothing for Marko who was just too quick! Pleased with 2nd though, tough race!
