Euro G2: Valencia

Lap 4 I had mr Massa and mr Pol hunting me down, maybe a second behind me or so, might be even less. When I approached T3 or T4 I heard crash sound from my car but I couldn't see any other car next me, could have been invisible for numerous reasons. After that mr Pol dropped way low on time sheet.

Considering championship battle between mr Pol and mr Bunce please, please don't let it be so that I f-cked up mr Pol's race?

What a race! Most fun I've ever had behind a screen, by far!

I was on the waiting list before this one but Tim kindly let me join in when it was clear the server wasnt going to fill up. I'd practiced a bit, but 2nd on the grid after qually was a major suprise! I was only 0.01 off of Pete, but I was never going to go any faster, so I can't complain about not getting pole. Great lap Pete!

The race started and I suprised myself by keeping up with the rear engined Porsche monster on the start, but didnt want to risk a side-by-side with Pete in T1, so I let him go as he was marginally ahead. Meanwhile Rory got boxed in and slipped into 4th, with Tom O'Gorman flying up from something like 7th (?) to take 3rd. Great start!!!
Tom flew into the pits on lap one, playing a little strategy that I knew from experience was never going to work, so I set about keeping up with Pete and keeping Rory at bay. But man does that Porsche fly on the straights! Pete wrestled it brilliantly in the corners and the turbos took care of the rest of the job, and he slowly pulled away as my soft fronts went to mush.
Meanwhile, Rory was struggling to get through but I was able to hold him off. Then he made a mistake and Marko got through, and sure enough, a lap or two later he ran into the back of me, so I went down to 4th while Marko took 2nd. I was able to beat Marko and Rory out of the pits a few laps later and reassume 2nd (11 seconds behind the ballistic Sir Pete of Bunce!). I had pulled a few seconds on Rory in the pitstops, but promptly threw it off at T2 in an amazing slide that somehow didnt loose me much time, but it did loose me a place to the out-of-position Darren Adams. I was so mad with myself that I very aggressively dived through at the last corner of that lap. No contact was made but I hope he feels I was fair.
Anyway, Rory was able to get passed Darren too and we battled tooth and nail until the last pitstop, where I pulled another 2 seconds on him, which he slowly but surely reeled in over the next 10 minutes. He caught me with about 5 minutes to go and we resumed our battle from before. He would catch me through turns 1, 5 and 6, but I would pull away just enough in the chicane and the last turn, so we where stalemate. On the last corner of the last lap, I ran my SEAT down the middle of the road, parked on the apex and blasted out in a huge powerslide (old karting trick), and it was enough to fox Rory and I held on to 2nd. What a race!!!

No Johan ... you didn't. Roberto lagged bigtime and I had nowhere else to go than straight into him. But I'll bet Roberto hasn't got a clue what I am talking about. :-) Getting back on track I immediately got spun around and when I joined again it was in 19th I think. After that it was only damagecontrole. Tried to gain some time with the tyres but that didn't work out either. So 10th in the end is not too bad after all. Besides that ... Valencia isn't my kind of track. Don't like those counterclockwise tracks. But again ... losing those 15 points by a disco 4 minutes before raceend at Mangy while being in the lead really hurt now. But hey .... I'm off to bed and off to Spa in the morning. A whole weekend of real life racing ahead :-)

I just didn't have the pace today and I only made up positions due to my strategy, I was surprised by that because I expected everyone to get 2 tyres per stop.
Still no way I was going to catch any of the front 3 but I was pleased to hold on to 4th.

@ Scott - all seemed fair to me Scott, I had no idea if we were racing for position or not at the time so sorry if I held you up atall.

This race was a disaster. I had a stop/go penalty on the start, and came out of it in 22nd with about 23 seconds to make up. I had the gap down to 6 seconds when some guy in a BMW pulled onto the track, after spinning, and came right into me, despite the fact that I had moved over into the middle of the track to give him room. Oh well, what do you do about other people's stupidity...nothing. So I just turned it around and kept soldiering on. I had now 13 seconds to make up. I had that gap down to 5 by the end of the first stint, and pitted around 20 mins in. I came out in the same position, but by the time all the pitstops had sorted out, I was down to 11th. I was about 4 1/2 seconds behind 10th when we both pitted. He was taking a line down pit lane that indicated his pit stall was a ways away, so I opted for a shallow line into my pit stall. At the last second, however, he took a quick dart into his stall and I hit him. My fault, I don't even remember who it was, but it was a bad call on my part. Anyway, I ended up in someone's garage. I had to back out and pull into the space right in front of him. By the time I had turned off my car to refuel, he was off and running down pit lane. I came out of that stop in 16th (out of 18 cars still running the race). I was back up to 13t when I had one more problem For no reason, with about 7 minutes to go, my game minimized itself. There was no pop-up, no reason to minimize, it just did. Anyway, that froze me up in a huge way, and I crashed into a wall and lost about 30 seconds and 3 positions, and another lap. I was in 16th. Somehow I ended up in 14th, I forget how, but I was just struggling to get the darn thing home at that point. What a race...

Congrats to Pete Bunce on the nice win, and kudos to Scott Michaels for a strong showing for the Seats. Sorry I wasn't there to help you out, and a good third for Rory King, first of the Bimmers. Nice job guys.

Sucks that you jumped the start again Tom! You must be too quick for the game :P

And Darren, I had the same thing for the first half of that lap, I thought you where a lap down! Took me until the back straight to work out you weren't :P

Btw Finn, your setup finished 1st and 2nd. LOL :P

Hi, this was my first race at race2paly, and it didn't go very wheel. Around the 4th lap someone hit from behind which make my car go off track, when I came back someone hit me, which was completely my fault and I apologise, I should have been more careful and I have to map some button to look behind. For that incident I had a stop&go penalty (I would like someone to confirm it that was the case).
Them, some laps after all the cars disappeared, I don't know if it was my connection or I was kicked. Where can I confirm that?

Edit by TM - Richardo, first welcome to Race2Play. To answer your questions, the stewards did not give you any penalty so it must have been a game-issued penalty. Second, we didnt boot you either so probably a lost connection. Hope things go better in your future races

LOL...you might want to re-phrase that sentence but I'll see what I can do. That was Seat Valencia setup or derived from something else?
