Pacific G2: Magny-Cours

Oh man, go figure--the newb is the first one out of the race. Who was it I accidentally hit as I flipped over the wall on the front straight? Egad, I don't even know how that happened.

Anyway, thanks for the opening experience. Its a whole lot more interesting running with people who want to race by the rules than the dummies who seem to populate the average server.

I was running well for my first time on the track besides the bit of warmup I got on the train home from work; I was running between 58.6 and 1:00.5 pretty consistently. Far off the pace, but consistent.

I do wonder how to keep the M3's back end from really swinging out as you wear the tires and lighten because of fuel load. Anyone have a guide to how to tune these cars?

Argh! Nightmare race. Can anyone explain why my pit crew wouldn't do anything when I came in for my second stop? Moved the car backwards and forwards a little, straightened it out... nothing.

And sorry about the mess on lap 1. Just couldn't find a way to squeeze into the traffic in that bumpy corner, so I had to go over the curbs and I got launched.

Alright race for me I qualified with the pole and was happy although I believe 55's were there.

I was in second up till the first stop where I lost ground and then made my second stop 5 laps later and got my fuel I needed to finish and then by the checkered flag I was nearly a full lap behind the leader. Congrats to the top 3 who had some strategy. My car (SEAT) seemed to be quick for about the first 10-15 laps on the tires and then would fade quickly. Good racing though and thanks to Russ Spencer who was always courteous and kind with passing.

Fun race. Some weirdness, some bad driving, some good driving. Made a few mistakes but I had fun and last time I checked that's what this is all about. :-)

Just prior to race start there were 27 people on the list of which 3 were waiting so I went to work. According to results just 20 had showed up. Nice.

Good racing this morning with some strange problems for me. First, on downshifting for the jump, the wheel decided to do one downshit too much. That made me spin and do a double salto mortale over the jump. Luckily the car wasn't damaged too much so I could carry on. Then Barry left the race and I was in 4th with a comfortable lead to 5th. Then, with 4 minutes on the clock, my pc started a scheduled scan. It made my fps go up and down from 85 to 8 and back. So the last 2 laps were really tough and I hope my hopping around didn't cause problems to anyone. If they did, my apologies. Damn scanner expects me to be in bed at 6:30 AM. And you know ... it maybe right. :-) Grats to Dennis on his first R2P. Must feel great after doing so many races. And also grats to John for a good and solid 2nd and Garret for getting the last podiumspot.

A big sorry to Tommy Gunn, I was on new tires & was braking later than you & alittle Impatient I guess.my mistake.

I had a whale of a battle with John. Although we never passed each other on track, our gap ebbed and flowed throughout the race. I led the first stint with John behind me. He had a faster 1st pit, but I suspect he took 2 tires as I caught him pretty quickly (I took 4). As soon as I would catch him, we would get separated by traffic. This was going on the entire second stint. Same after the 3rd pit stop. I kept gaining on him then loosing him with a lot of traffic.
I finally lost about 10s with 2 laps to go when two slower cars (battling for position) braked VERY early into the jump chicane (Adelaide). I punted one in the back and went flying. Lost my bearings and waited until someone passed through so I could tell which way was up! I didn't lose a postion and finished with a great result.
Very enjoyable race on my end.

Note: I tried TeamSpeak for the first time tonight. I guess I have some adjusting to do as no one could hear me. Mic works otherwise. I also could only hear a din of voices during the race and nothing legible. Maybe everyone was mumbling anyways :-)

Ryan i hope i didnt get in your guys way too much tonight , i tried new vid card drivers tonight ,, didnt like the outcome - the game wasnt as solid as the last set of vid card drivers - im sorry if i got in the way tonight -
