Atlantic G3: Hockenheim

Apologies to Jeff Van Stone for the hit on lap2. I got two wheels on the grass and couldn't get the car slowed down enough. I try very hard not to be the hitter, but I also tend to be too conservative on the opening laps. This time it didn't work. Once again sorry Jeff.

I expected to cruise around at the tail end and try to stay out of everyones way, but Gary Hedrick came up and we ended up with a very close dice for many laps. Thanks Gary for the clean run. Trying not to hold up one of the leaders I went off and Gary got by, but it was fun while it lasted.
I thought I was developing some consistency, but the last 3 or 4 races have been notable for the lack of consistency on my part. Probably trying too hard.

Congrats to the guys up front. The usual suspects.

My qual was pretty poor, once again. It didn't seem to matter so much as I got a great start and was heading from fourth to second but I had to take evasive action as Agustin started slower ahead of me. That dropped me to 6th. Slowly I gained places and was happy to see that the leaders, including my title rival Scott, weren't pulling away. Once Scott had an off and dropped behind me, I was confident that I could keep him behind which would have been enough for the championship. Unfortunately he had his lag collision right after.

Eventually I was second and had caught Agustin in the lead. He was obstructing my visibility in T2, resulting in me missing my braking point and missing him by inches. I dropped a few seconds behind but next he had a spin, handing me the lead. The remainder of the race wasn't so difficult, in fact it seemed that most of the guys behind were having various issues.

On another note, before the race there were 23 drivers signed up and 22 showed up. Only one DNF in the race, and that was a lag accident. Great going, everyone. I wonder if there's been any other race with such stats.
