Pacific G3: Anderstorp

A very sorry to those who had to deal with my swerving viper. Glad no one become a victim as a result. Terrible setup. Terrible driving. We'll forget this one. Congrats to the winners.

lol @ Ben....yeah...that was some pretty nifty driving you did there. I was usually away from you, but my goodness, it was amazing that you remained in control as often as you did with such terrible of a setup.

*snaps fingers* I had to have been the final lapped car! So close to finishing on the lead lap. Oh well, learned about the car and the track a lot tonight. Good race whomever was mid-pack in an M3. For about 5 or 6 laps, we (10th-16 or 17th place) had a good train going! That was a bunch of fun.

I had the wrong tires and too little radiator opening. 5 laps in I get overheating warning, then 10 laps in I get tires worn warning. Pit for new tires, lose all my positions and go a lap down (was in 9th at the time). Continue race shifting gears early to keep from overheating. 7 minutes from end get tires worn warning again, so I just keep on going anyway. Last two laps get overheating warning. Oh well, chock one up to my own stupidity. Otherwise the setup was fine.

What a pitiful qualy. I couldn't get a break in traffic and had someone 'race' me to a corner while I was on a hot lap and they were re-entering the track! Ouch!

I had a pretty decent start (although I suspect others had no so great a start). I found myself runnin in 4th alone for the first 10 mins or so. I spun by myself at the right hander at the end of the straight and dropped to 7th, I believe. I caught my teammate, Garry, and ran behind him for a couple of laps. I was a bit quicker at the time and he let me by. We ran nose to tail alone for the middle portion of the race. I let him back by when my tires started going off and drove behind him for about 15 mins.

I noticed on the last lap that Garry had caught the Viper of Tommy in 3rd and I started to push hoping to get in on the action. I never caught the two of them and they had an incident on the last corner and Garry went into the litter. I don't like to take a position like that, especially from a team mate. I wound up 4th.

Great racing, Christopher. :) And a few others I went wheel to wheel with. Had more fun in this race than any other in GTR2 so far.

After the race someone asked me if I punted Tommy R. & I thought he was crazy. Just watched the replay & I just nicked his bumper & he spun.Sorry Tommy, I would have waited if I knew I got you, thought you spun before I got to you.Most guys here know I don't race that way.

That was a very fun race with alot of action.

Sorry Ben A. for bumping you off the track at the Hansen turn, didn't realize I drifted into you until I watched the replay.

Also sorry Bryan N. for running into you at Norra when you had that spin in front of me, I was too close behind to avoid you.

I messed up my race big time. Made 4 stupid mistakes due to a wrong arb-setting. What also didn't help was getting stuck behind Chip for numerous laps. It was so hard to follow and overtake you Chip cos from my point of view you were constantly warping. Not with great jumps, but small ones from left to right and back and forward. I know you probably can't help it but it made my race more difficult. And yes ... after I finally got by I made a mistake and was behind again. So 6th in the end was maybe even too much.

Sorry to see what happend to John and Tommy. I know John for quite some time now and he's a great driver. Hardly any mistakes and always fair to other drivers. I watched the replay and saw the slight touch. Bet John never even felt it but it was enough to make Tommy spin.

I had no idea what to race here, but with the long straight, I thought maybe give the Viper a whirl. So I did. And I didn't like it. So I hopped into the Porsche. And I didn't like it. So I hopped BACK into the Viper. :)

Anyway, I finally decided on the Viper. Went into qual, but since I'd only barely got the race setup decent, I just dropped the fuel load and hoped for the best. I'm not sure how it happened, but I managed to find myself on the pole, which to be frank, was quite a shock to me! I was very pleased, but I knew that didn't mean squat for the race. The Viper is hard on tires and I was trying to run with soft/mediums.

I got an uncharacterisitically good start and put several car lengths on the the field. I opened it up to maybe 2 or 2.5 seconds at one point, but my LF tire began to get cooked. As that happened, John (in a Porsche in 2nd) reeled me in. I knew I couldn't hold him off forever. All I could really hope was that maybe he would have an off-course to buy me some time and maybe....just maybe....I could back off a bit, conserve my tires, and come in with a win.

So a bit past mid-way, John was making a charge. He was much faster in the carousel and got a strong run on me. As I turned in to the final turn I felt a bump and did a lazy spin to the inside. John and then Tommy C. both made it past. At the time I was fairly upset. Granted it was just a racing incident, but normally in a situation like that the offender will wait for the vicitm to get righted.

As John and I have discussed (and he's posted here), he didn't even feel the bump so to him I just spun on my own. So no hard feelings, John. Stuff happens. :)

Anyway, I managed to hold onto to 3rd with Garry making a big charge near the end. Once again (this time on the final lap), Garry got a great run out of the carousel. Entering the final turn I didn't divert from my line much. I maybe was a half car width over to run a more defensive line, but Garry and I touched. He went into the gravel and this time I was able to stay on the asphalt. I think those Porsches just brake a LOT better than this pig of a Viper!

Anyway, I had fun and, John, that was a great battle we had going! Congrats on the win and to Tommy C. for 2nd!

I was wondering why you didn't try to pass me for all those laps. I never intentionally tried to block you or race you, since I saw you where in 4th or something like that. From my car everything seemed to be smooth, never saw anyone warping. If I was, I don't know why, but sorry for the inconvenience.
