PLMS: Brianza

Next time I'll put in a bit more fuel to be sure I will make the finish....

I calculated the amount of fuel I would need for my 2nd stint, and the difference between running out of fuel and finishing 2nd was just 15 seconds. I couldn't believe the race wasn't finished yet....

After my pitstop I spun on cold tyres. Nuno could get his spot back. 20 minutes before the end of the race I got a bit worried about fuel, but I decided to stay out and hopefully make it by saving fuel a bit. Crossed the finish for the last time with just 2 liters left, hoping that by saving fuel I would make it. But just after the finishline the fuel indicator went down to 1 liters left......

Well... My computer decided that I wasn't gona run the race this after noon. As warmup started computer rebooted. Congrats to Conor and Nuno.

Didn't practice much for this race but the few laps that I did run with this car, I felt really comfortable and looked forward to this run.

Qual was quite a shocker for me. Ran a 1.49.5 for pole which was almost a second quicker than TC.

Race started off cleanly and I got good separation from the rest of the GT2 field. Spent the whole first half of the race trying my best to spread the distance over TC and when pit stops came, I was about 15 seconds from him.

After the stops, I pulled even farther out as the stop itself went quite well....never lost the lead either. Kept increasing the distance with some pretty quick lap times in the 1.50s and after a while, with a comfortable spread of about 30 seconds, I settled down and rode it out till the end.

Dull race when it came to racing with other cars but running on this track was quite fun. Normally, I am not a Monza fan but this weekend's races at that track have been quite good to me and is quickly changing my negative stance against it :).

Cya'll next time at the finale at Lienz. That'll be wild :P

Race went okay. Qualifying was the first I was on this track with this car. I started to figure the track and car out by mid race, turn one is murder for me. I thought the race was 2.5 hours and set the fuel and pit stops as such :P. These cars are a lot of fun to ride. Look to better my efforts on the longer races in the future. I will need to spend more time on the pit strategy.

Very happy with the result, an unexpected 3rd thanks to mistakes by faster drivers!

The start and initial laps were great, very clean. Over the first half I slowly fell behind BF and had a great extended chase with PD. I pit and gained 2 spots (15 sec?)after all pits were finished. Don't know if you took tires or had some driving mistakes?

The second half was awesome, I was 2-5 seconds ahead of BF the entire time! We both drove rock solid the last stint. I did my quickest laps at the very end and was able to cruise to the podium with .4 gal left.

I'm pleased at how consistent I drove and also that I wasn't lapped for the first time in this whole series. I would have been lapped by about 5 seconds but thanks to a very late spin by Nuno I was able to stay on the lead lap.

Also, just like CmC I can never get into this track for public short races or when I practice. But at the end of the long races I love it!

Been outta the races for awhile and it was nice to just finish, but didn't think I'd be THAT far off the pace. Would've settled for third, until my pedals slipped on their base and managed to take the sand in parabolica and giving Richard about 30 seconds on me and spent the next lap or so trying to get them straight again.

Grats to Conor, TC and Rich as well as Nuno and the GT-1 podium finishers.

Hope to make a few more now that my system and schedule are a little more forgiving....Who know's maybe even the finale..

Well about 36 minutes in, I discoed. I cannot remember when the last time that happened to me. and never in rf. Such is life. I hope that no one was harmed when I disoced.

Report essentially consists of me making a tragic rookie mistake with my Monza setup.

Qual:
Feeling pretty good with my times and comfort level, every race this season I have decreased the gap to Conor to the point where maybe I can almost run with him for a while.
Then I see 2/3rds thru Qual he rips off a 49.5, 1 sec faster than me.
One Second.
I know then that I am missing something obvious, and my (our - teammates) goose is cooked.

Race:
I simply didn't understand, the speed differential between us had been dwindling to minimal. WTF?
Thru the magic of TeamSpeak (boy is it handy) I asked him what his aero package was a couple minutes into the race.
Sheeet. I screwed up :0
Talk about a hopeless battle, I just gave up after the mid-race pit stop.

But running with Richard and Robo was a race highlight.
