USA PPRC: Montreal

Wow, my first major race where I stayed on the lead lap. :)
Thanks for the good race guys.

Had a good battle with Tommy for a couple of laps, then he made a booboo in the first chicane, and I got by.

After that Barry kept the pressure on me, gap between 1 and 3 seconds for about 10 laps.

Then I came across a lapper, greatly overestimated his speed, and ran into the back of him exiting the chicane before the back straight. Sorry to whoever that was.

Limped home third after that. Shoulda won that one.

Good win Barry! You kept it together when the rest of us fell apart. Damn I just had no car control tonight in the Porka, I thought I stopped looping these things long ago and learned how to drive them. Guess not :-/
Ah well. On the plus side was a COMPLETE AND DEFINITIVE DEMONSTRATION of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the Porsche vs the Panoz driven at race speeds.
Tristan and I were nose to tail, side by side, for what? Like 4 or 5 laps? Tres cool!
Due to my aforemention crappy car control tonight I locked it up a bunch and was getting real worried I might get into him, but thankfully I didn't get stupid. Well, I did get stupid, just didn't take him out in the process.
I did bump you one time Tristan, tapped your rear bumper on a short straight, but that was on purpose :-) heh heh

Congrats to Waltz also, and Tristan, Jim, and Jarrod for the Panoz podium.

Congrats Barry, Tommy and Mike you guys are fast all the time. When ever I have a chance to run close to you guys its always a thrill. I however, have not yet experienced that thrill but, maybe some day!

I signed up for this race but was thinking I might not run it so I didn't bother getting any seat time. Besides every time I have raced the PRC in rfactor its just been an exercise in survival. Tonight, I get a 6th overall which only brings a 5th. in PRC! I am not complaining!!!!

Hectic one. Forgot which series we were running and got no seat time in the Porsche. Thought NP, but was mistakenly thinking about the GTR2 GT3 Cup cars instead. Yikes! Totally unprepared for these things, which I don't think I've ever driven the 1.2 mod of. No grip at all!

Then had a scare when my PC locked full-on black screen solid in Q, meaning I spent it rebooting and hoping I'd get back in rather than driving. Barely made it! Dunno what it is about rFactor, but it's the only app that will on occasion lock my box up like that.

Started at the back having missed Q and took it easy, taking time to feel out the car with what I'm guessing was one of Tim's setups since it started with TMM. Felt awful, but I'm guessing that's as good as it gets with this mod/track combination. Did I say no grip? ;-)

Gradually worked my way up, partially through passing and the rest through others' errors. Was a bit concerned when I caught Patrick since his car had been warping pretty bad from the start, and sure enough when I got fairly close to him he shot off the road and crashed. Hated to see that happen, but there's not much you can do when the collision system says the car's in one place and the graphics put it in another (see screens from lap 1). Didn't see anyone else warping though and other close dices went ok, so I'm guessing he had a bad connection or something.

Was pretty surprised to get up as far as I did, but I think it was down to just not making any big errors since everyone seemed to be struggling. As bad as it was in a Porsche the mind reels at what it must've been like in a Panoz... The horror! (I know Tommy likes to sing its praises, but the fact that I finished in front of Tristan should be all the proof ever needed that the Panoz is pure junk!)

That was some great racing. The braking distance required for the panoz just kills me... I think I'll plop down the dough for a sex change and try the Por-cha at the next event.

Thanks for allowing me room while I bullied the Panoz around, Tommy. It's a bit of a ridiculous car, and I tried my best to give you room as well... but you could tell, I wasn't giving up easily ;-)

I'm uploading our battle onto YouTube. It will take a few hours (maybe until tomorrow morning), but it's worth the wait for those of you who have not seen it. Our battle was epic; we were (..well, I sure was) on the ragged edge as I defended 3rd overall from a hard-charging and determined Mr. Christian.

Very nice to see some Eagle's in this race too. Word up, Eagle's in the hizzOUSE represent!

Finished up all my yardwork, showered, and was eating dinner thinking, "I've already got a Panoz setup for Montreal. No need to rush to the server. La dee da..." Got in there about 10 minutes before practice ended.

"Wait a minute. What are these cars? These are the GTS cars, not the GT2s! D'oh!!" So I had to cobble together a setup super quick. It was far from optimum, but I was VERY fortunate to get a handle on it rather quickly and managed a 2nd in class starting spot.

As is my trademark, however, I got a crappy start and opened the door for everyone behind me to blow by me before T1. :) I just kept plugging away and found myself in 2nd in class, 4th overall. Obviously according to my HUD, Tommy C. and Tristan were really battling it out for 2nd.

I wasn't really making ground on them, but I wasn't *that* far behind to lose hopes of possibly catching them. Unfortunately, I suffered from brain fade and looped it, backing into a wall every so slightly. UGH! I got it going again only to spin in the next corner! My wing had broken off!

Pitted for an eternity, came back on course, worked through some traffic, and managed a 4th in class. All things considered, I'm not really disappointed, but I certainly had higher aspirations. Stupid spins. ;)

Zee Battle!

A strange leadup to this race.I have been fiddling with that realfeel plugin on various mods[still undecided on this] and eventually turned it off for some offline praccy.Then i decided to switch to all car thingy and go online.I immediately noticed something was not right,i already had a setup but it was feeling unstable.Then i noticed the rears were overheating badly,tyre pressure was waay too high,ran some more laps,still overheating.Further investigation revealed rear toe-in at -1.4, wtf,i would never have set that value or tyre pressure that high,so who was in my garage sabotaging.I got a good start to the race,then Tommy disappeared from my view leaving me to chase Mike.At one stage i really started to close in and i figured i would get by,then once more he opened the gap.Just when i figured 2nd would have to do,i find out he had contact and was facing the wrong way.Happy to get my 3rd win.
