UKFormula Historic F1: Jarama (Euro)

I was thrilled to find out that when server progressed to race rF stopped responding.

Qualified 2nd with average lap, so that made excitment with non-responding rF even greater.

Congrats to Peter on a great race where he didn't put a foot wrong. I knew he would be the person to beat after looking at the results from the USA Historic F1 79 race at Jarama. He would probably have had a battle on his hands if Enis had started the race. What happened to you there Enis?

All I wanted to do was keep the car on track and finish the bloody race and I'm happy to say I did :) Great track IMO!

Uneventful race for my first podium.
I qualified 5th with a decent lap for me. I jumped off the lights ok, but got a bit bogged down behind others and was very cautious into T1 allowing Kirill to go past. I followed him for a while and he was a bit all over the place and I could go through when he had an off. After a couple of laps I was running 3rd, 4 seconds after Vikz.
I was able to keep close to his pace for a third of the race or so, but he started pulling ahead even though I managed to do a 1:18 in race trim, better than any of my practice laps.
Then I had a half spin at T1 and decided to cool down and keep the 3rd position, which was already more than I had been expecting.

Before the race I said my goal was to finish. Unfortunately I didn't :-( Went well for a couple of laps,but then I was to late on the brakes and went off.
I got some suspension damage and crawled back to the pits. The pit crew used almost 2 minutes to repair,but they did not fix the suspension. After a couple of laps I decided to stop before it got messy,it was just to hard to control the car.

I must like this track as it is one of the few I seem to be quite quick at, as it turns out this week. Maybe as it is the only track I have ever practiced a lot at - which I had done for another League many months ago. Which amazingly I won using an ATS! lol That is inexplicable. You CAN'T win any races in an ATS!

For this race I was hoping to make a break from the pack and get the chance to use my 'bonus' speed to keep ahead and clear. So that all went to plan (unlike at the US F179 race for Jarama!). I could run at 98% pace approx and maintain the gap so that helps a LOT, for safety and consistency, but it still does not remove the pressure on you that you must maintain that! Vikz was running a strong enough pace that ensured I had to be on the ball the whole way!

A shame about Enis losing connection! If he was there that would quite likely have altered things a lot! Unless I could break free of him very quickly right from the start also it would have made it into a race length battle! And that would have brought the race pace down a bit to have Vikz right in there with us! So things would have been very interesting! Some of us crashing? Spinning or trouble? Or could we have all done a full race of neck and neck fighting! :)
