Monza 120K

My pathetic struggle on soft slicks were ended by a Viper CC at Parabolica. Nice to have people joining track like that after a spin or what ever.

Damn, I could've won this by miles...

I tottaly ignored the possibility of rain... Took the strategy of 2 stops.

Was on pole, and faster than Rory... But than game decided to have a rain race and that ruined it all...

Great battle with Darren for pretty much the whole race. After he had a little spin at the first chicane, I made my stop 7secs ahead - and came out 7secs behind! Not sure how that happened. Got by again when he ran wide at the final chicane, but there was never much in it. Great race, mate, really enjoyed that one :)

I could`ve won this race, but some people showed up who were much faster than me.

Unusual in quali to be punted when sitting waiting for the green light but that's how things started. So my quali was shortened but I managed a reasonable time on my last lap. Then Pete put in a faster one at the last moment so I was 2nd. The first part of the race I was glued to Pete's bumper and Heinz caught us up to make a group of 3. I thought I could pass but wasn't sure because I was faster in certain places and slower in others. I eventually tried to outbrake Pete into turn 1 but didn't think I quite had it so I left room on the exit and Pete kept the lead (very nice bit of side by side there). A lap or 2 later I tried again and this time I had the pace on the exit and took the lead. I had risked soft tyres not really knowing if they'd last but they seemed ok on that first stint against Pete's hard tyres, and I managed to pull away a little bit before I made a mistake exiting turn 1 and nearly span. I saved it but lost a few seconds and the lead. Then I had a real struggle to stay just 4 or 5 seconds behind Pete until my stop. I was nicely surprised to pass Pete in the pits a lap later (he obviously had a delay in the pits) and I had a 6 second lead until I met a Porsche in the middle of Ascari. The lead became 2 seconds and Pete just chipped away at it lap by lap. I was paying more attention to the gap than the track at times and was feeling the pressure. He caught me and passed as I got loose out of Ascari with about 3 laps to go, it felt kind of inevitable and I was still happy to finish much closer to Pete than I did in the last wet race at Anderstorp. Atleast I made a race of it this time and it was great fun. Thanks and congrats to Pete and all the finishers in that rainstorm.

Awful race for me. I made a spin in Parabolica and lost a wheel when someone hit me. Guess it was Johan. Sorry about that. I was waiting and looking back for other cars. When I thought the track behind me was clear, a group of cars came. Again, sorry about that, my mistake. I lost another wheel when my computer decided to show me the desktop and I hit the wall. I made a lot of other mistakes after my second pit-stop and was just waiting for the end of the race. Hope to do better next time.

That was hard work. Started on intermediates and decided that was a no no on the formation lap, so dived in the pits at the start of lap 1. Took hard wets front and back. Spent the rest of the race catching up and watching people spin, including myself somewhat later on. Was planning on two stops with the second stop a splash and dash but the first stop (switching onto soft wet fronts as the hards weren't getting up to temp) got me to the end. Great fun and very rewarding. Thanks to all.

I never expected rain and have never driven on rain before. I will from now on take some laps with rain before the race.

Huh, how 'bout that.

Haven't raced in a GT-O race all season, had some extra playtime after the PLMS race granted by the wife as she was out shopping.
Deliberately did not choose the Monza overdog Viper like in last Wednesday's G3 race, went with the sec/lap slower Porka, and hoped for the better fuel mileage to help me out in the end.

Qual:
Made it w/10 minutes to spare from PLMS.
Made a total mess of qual. Spun once on my own, then was collected by another's spin and it damaged my front end. Coming from rFactor's Monza to GTR's Monza, while the turns go the same way, the track is not that same. Was having trouble adjusting.
Can't say that I cared too much, it's a 1 hr race after all, who cares where you start. But still, it's nice to do well and start further up front.
Qual'd 6th after 4 Vipers and a fellow Porsche. Ick.

Race:
Holy crap, it's pissing down. I have about 2 rain races worth of experience, last one was a couple months ago. Maybe this will help equalize the big speed differences with the Vipers ...
After the first pit stop cycle I was completely lost to where I was in-class, I wish GTR had the rF hud where you can see names and positions. I only saw the occasional lapper, and got lapped by Pete and Darren in the faster G2's (looked like a killer battle). I knew being 5th overall was probably a good thing.
Just trying to be smooth, only nicked the sand thrice the whole race which cost me a few seconds, but no spins or offs in the rain.
Then I crossed the line, exited to look at the standings, and found out I won.
