G2 / nGT fun-run (USA)

Ack! Was dinking around offline trying to figure which car to drive and when I switched to multi I had just missed getting in before Q started! Tried to get in during warmup, but no dice. Too bad; was really looking forward to sporting around in the Seat in the dark!

first - apologies to chip - i was too close to you going into Eau Rouge and arse rammed ya. I'm sorry - we had such a great battle going and I screwed it up. Slowed to allow you to pass but i imagine you were pretty damaged. Sorry.

second - 5 minutes from the end I get the whole damn pc shuts down again...totally reboots me.

I've got to figure this out. I had nothing running that I know of and it happens earlier sometimes than others. I'm friggin pissed at my machine. But will post that in the regular forum.

great race all - it was a blast to drive at night!

Oh - anyone else get any stutters last night? I'm wondering if this was related to the shutdown. It seemed that whenever the night switched to be a bit darker I get a stutter...the last time it happened it sent me into the wall and I spent 10 minutes (prior to my pc shutting down) racing without headlights.

Thanks to Tommy Christian for giving me some solid race advice that allowed me to easily go without a pitstop and claim the victory here.

I was able to manage low 2 18's in qualy trim but I kept running up on other drivers and had to give way a few times. I swore I gave enough room at the start of each lap but there you go.

I got a decent start from P4 and knew the others would make the pitstop so I wasn't pushing the car too hard. Barry made a small mistake in Eau Rouge about lap 4 and that allowed me through to P1. I saw the yellow flags running down into Blanchimont and the wounded car was over the curbing but I couldn't see if he was trying to inch back on line so I went to the outside and lost my 2.5 second lead going into The Bus Stop. Barry, again got through Eau Rouge a little slow and I was able to out brake him into Les Combes and when he pit a lap later I knew I was fine.

One of my better races and I have to say the night racing in GTR2 puts rFactor to shame.

Just a dumb habit to hit esc like a noob instead of limping the car to pits after hitting the wall :( would of loved to stick it out since i started to get better with that track

Yah, I resisted that temptation Scott, spun myself early and hit the wall on the final corner. What sucked was, I had just switched around alot of my buttons and had forgoten which buttons were the ignition and starter... Needless to say, spent at least a minute trying to start the stupid thing, and then had to hobble around an entire lap to get to the pits w/ a blown tire. I could have called it quits and would have finished probably 15th or so. Instead I stuck it out, and just cruised around trying to stay out of peoples way, and that resulted in an overall 8th, with a 4th in my class. Which is my best finish yet in R2P, in probably one of my worst ran races. I guess just sticking it out pays off, and I overall I learned alot from this race.

Apology accepted. Had no hard feelings when it happened, just a racing incident. You are right about the damage. Radio guy comes on and says rear-end is damaged, the car would barely go around corners. I pitted to get it fixed.

All in all a successful race for me, and one of my best finishes.

Well this was supposed to be a fun run :) I decided to run the less obvious G2 car the Porsche Bi-turbo, it was like dancing with a 400# gorilla. Treat it smooth and gentle and you might just get away with your life !!

Apologies to all those behind me at the start I managed to stall it on the grid and cause minor chaos. Once I finally got going things began to settle down, punted Michael Kolar going into the hairpin, apologies my fault totally. I slowed on the straight to make sure I didn't gain any positions. Spent the next few laps chasing down Gregg Mulgrew. Finally got close and started to work on where I was quicker and boom followed Gregg off and smacked into him as we spun elegantly in the grass.

Pitted early and just tried to turn some consistent (slow) laps. Finally the beast got the better of me and I lost it and plowed into the wall.

I really enjoyed the challenge, hope I didn't screw anyone up.

I thought I could jump into this without any practice, but apparently I needed it. Went with harder tires because of the 2x wear, which really shook up my braking points, then of course the cold night temps shook them up even more. My heart just wasn't in it, and eventually my mind wandered and I drove straight off and into a wall. Only my 2nd DNF here at R2P.

No prob about the punt Simon, I kept it straight and it didn't cost me much.

Congrats podium, Spa at night is a tough victory!
