Intro to Formula Trainer

Good race tbh.

Got too much wheelspin off the start, tried to squeeze Rory (Shumi styleeee :D) but cleany and that was the race tbh.

We just had to many consistent laps too make any dents in the gap.

So I looked after my tires as temps were hitting high 90's :0

gr Rory and John, grats as well too Tolga who was really on form LOL!! :P

Qualified 3rd and finished third.

Wasnt consistent enough to stay with Rory or Grecian and decided mid race that better to bring it home third than not at all. Was great fun and the track is quite nice too. Congrats to Rory and Grecian!

First i have to appologize to Jim Day. I had my brake pressure set very low to avoid lockups, and it took me 3/4 of a lap and at least three taps to figure out you had much greater stopping power than i. luckily, my errors didn't seem to have damaged either of us but i'm sure you were having some choice words for me.

As for the race report...

Well, i REALLY screwed up the start. Ah... I ah... didn't notice i was in 3rd gear. Lost 10 places by the first corner.

After that, however, came quite a bit of fun racing -- especially with Roberto Massa in the last 8 laps or so. Thought i had him on the straight at least three times, but he was much quicker (braver!) through T1 than i. There was one section of the track -- the twisty bits after the bridge -- where i knew i was quicker. Never would have expected to make a pass there, however. But on lap 17 (?) i got a good run on him after the bridge and pulled up beside him going into the left-hander.

Barrett Erickson, no harm done, no damage. Its all good.
I was abit slower than most, but I had fun racing in a pack till I lost it. Got back on it till I hit a slower car, sorry about that, you seemed to brake quite hard in front of me.
Then I got back to pace, and almost caught back up to Chris Galloway, would have been fun to battle you for that 10th place spot.

My first R2P race, quite a nice experience, didn't have much time for practice and setup, so I came a bit scared about T1: with a kink and a bump in the braking area I barely could make it most of the time.
Qualy went ok, considering traffic is inevitable with so many drivers in a short track.

I had a very good start, gained a bunch of positions in the straight and kept it clean through the first corners.
The first laps were busy, as most of the faster guys I had passed at the start recovered their positions.

I had a nice fight for a while with R. Massa, he was faster most of the time but I finally got ahead and he dropped a bit behind. We banged wheels a couple of times, but no major incidents, just hard and clean racing.

I managed to keep things steady and kept gaining positions, mostly due to faster people having problems. I also noticed that apparently I was running less wing than some (5/5) as I was faster in the straight than most of the guys I fought.

In the final lap I got up to 6th by passing B. Zwartenbol who was way faster, but couldn't do much by then, lacking a rear wing.

well disaster for me.

i was busy playing with my new tv/monitor and didnt put any pre race practice in + i couldnt get in the server (thanks to the guys on Teamspeak for helping me out!!).

i connected as qual started.

found it very difficult to adjuct from a 19" to 32" widscreen.

i started in 6th

followed everyone for a lap but couldnt get not rythem and i end up self spinning and rejoined in last. i spun again on the next corner then got my racing head on untill lap 5 when i hit some1 who was turning in the track from a spin. i went in for repairs and came out behind the front runners and stayed behind barry for the rest of the race.

i wanted to over take as i felt i was a little faster but i didnt see no point in trying to race some1 a lap ahead of me. i ended up 12th i think

ill be ready by this weekend (bloody giant screen lol) and hopefully a bit more adjusted to it.

did a little practice over the w'end and thought no prob. well, add one crying baby and a tendency to swap ends on downshifts meant a race to forget. offline i wasn't having trouble managing smooth downshifts (g25 paddle function), maybe i'll turn on clutch help for the next one. that and make sure the baby's happy before the green flag --i agree the paints look really good!

Missed one, damn.

Nice race and tough circuit (never used before).
I was very slow on stright, maybe setup factor or I was too late on braking points.
YES, nice battles with Felipe and Barret, I was often better on braking, but loosing times on stright.
Which is optimal tire temp for this cars? tbc file says 102°C but it seems over 90-95 to have less grip.
