Where's Marcos Ambrose when you need him?!?

What a race...I don't care if only half the competitors honoured their entries, I had to race hard for that podium and enjoyed every split-second of it. Well done to Fred and Maciej tho...looked like a helluva ding-dong out front for most of the race.

Was quietly confident of a decent finish but was concerned about the various banked bends preventing any overtaking opportunities. Was a bit miffed when the front row was locked in with laps in the 45's...hoped it had been a superhuman effort from Fred and Felipe. Got a blinding start and was on the inside of a 3-a-breast run into turn one, but knew I had more to lose with a shallow entry so let the first 5 sort themselves oot. Quickly settled into a race pace, and within a few laps had caught and passed Marc and then Bas. To my surprise I was beginning to reel in Felipe, and as he pitted at halfway the gap was less than a second. With both Fred and Maciej also in the pits, I had my lap of glory in the lead and then pitted, only to exit over 6secs behind Felipe! Took a couple of laps til I got my head doon and began to reel him in again...eventually caught him with 3 to go and could see he was struggling for grip...one wee mistake on the last turn with 2 to go was all the invite I needed to claim the final step on the podium...was a nailbiting last lap tho!

Top marks to Felipe tho...despite my obvious tyre compound advantage I still had to work hard to catch him...will be the first and probably last time I ever get the better of someone thanks to strategy! Could've done with Ambrose's help to break into the 45's tho...maybe next time eh!
