Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

Picked the wrong race set for the race and as a result I was oversteering and loose under power at the apex to exit...Anywho, I was happy with my overall performance. I was faster offline, Online gets me nervous. Good job Conor, could I have your set:)?

This mod is a blast. First time racing it and the track. Thanks to all for the setup assistance.

Race: Started in the back (15th) and within a few laps was running in the top 8. BTW, I was lapped I think on the second or third lap (Fast driving Conor). Anyway, I knew I was going to get a top 10 finish, until the tires started to wear and I hit the wall in T1. I had damage, but could make it to the pits. All of a sudden, the lead lap cars came up on me fast and in a bad spot. So in order not to ruin their race, I went wide and ran in to the tire barriers. I tried to make it to the pits, but barely tapped the wall and rFactor froze up on me. Second time this has happened. Time for a clean install of the sim.

Congrats Conor and the rest of the finishers. I will be back for more!

Did the best I could in Qualifying with a :57.4. I was distracted by one of the other people in my apartment building letting me know that I had a FedEx delivery (my new Sim Seats SR-X cockpit!) downstairs. Put in a "banker" lap, hit ESC and went down to see if I needed to sign anything, which I didn't.

The race went pretty well for me, with the exception of a few moments of brain fade, which meant that I drove most of the race with a wounded car. In the end, I am more than happy to get a top 10 in what was a very demanding race.

A result this good makes me excited for the rest of the season! See you all at Barber Motorsports Park next week.

Unbelievable...how the hell the winner managed to lap consistently below 57secs AND do a two-stop strategy I will never understand. I watched Conor during practice and whilst others seemed to be running different gearing, ours appeared to be similar...but he was able to brake so much deeper into the corner. Hopefully that will be the first and last time I finish 5th yet still get lapped 4 times!

Mustn't grumble at a top 5 finish for an Indycar Rookie tho...spent the first part of practice concentrating on getting a setup that would make the car go where I pointed it, crucial round a street circuit haha! Set a PB during qualifying and anticipated being able to pick up one or two places during the race if I could keep the car on track.

Got a bit confused at the start...have never done a rolling start before and half expected us to line-up side-by-side at the end of the warm-up lap but then realised it was going to be single file...which was probably for the best! Don't know why but my first stint was awful...had a spin on lap 15 and had burned the front tyres after only 20laps so had to pit early...got into a better rhythm for the second stint and stretched the tyres out to 27laps, and it seemed I was locked into a battle between Len Venne and Scott Ring albeit at different places on the track thanks to our differing pit windows. Again got 27laps in the third stint and came out 5th ahead of Scott who still had his final stop to make...had a couple of close calls with one or two backmarkers and almost wiped out the leader when he lapped me for the fourth time, sorry again Conor! He had always caught me at the same place before so he knew where to pass me but this time he caught me before the final hairpin and we both took the same line...oops, close call. Was reeling in Len over the final 10 laps but thanks to Conor's dominant performance, there weren't enough laps left!

As it was my first race in Indy Car, I put a massive 3 hours of practising before it. This paid well for me - 3rd place on the grid, and 3rd during the race, but Conor's pace was something unbelievable, lapping everybody at least 2 times - I never seen it nor in the real-life racing(only Le Mans maybe), nor in the any(even friendly 2-people racing) sim races.
It is very bad that there was low amount of people partcipating in this event. Had a good fight at the start of the race with Barry, it was going to be interesting race with different strategies, but after his retirement(I wonder what happened) boredom nearly killed me.
Still, I hope next time race will be more interesting because it willn't be the same day with the F1, so more people should attend this, but instead V8 Supercars will be held the same day... so I don't know if it is going to be more exciting next time.

This was my first road race with these cars and I must say I am very impressed. The car handled great for most of the race at least, and the tire degradation was somewhat brutal yet, controllable. While all things considered, my race looked easier than it really was. This track is very treacherous despite the modest number of corners and overall length. Those walls have a knack for reaching out and grabbing you when you least expect it and for a long race, I had to keep that in mind the entire time. Not to mention the countless spins and wrecks I had to avoid the entire time, which added to the difficulty of this event.

I went with a two stop strategy since it would mean one less venture into pit lane...buying me time on track. I had guessed that my tires would completely wear out around the time I would have to pit, so I had to be careful with them. Unfortunately for my first stint, I was not easy on the tires at all for some reason and nearly wore them down to the cords by the end. The car was awful and could barely turn at all, which slowed me down considerably. As a result, I held up Len for a few laps waiting to get into my pit window, so I apologize for that.

Knowing what the tire wear was capable of, I made damn sure not to get back in the same situation again for the next two stints. I dialed back some brake which freed up the car a bit on entry into the corners, allowing me to ease up on the fronts to keep them fresher deeper into the stint.

With 10 laps to go, I had my first run in with the wall, which bent up the suspension a bit. The car became awkward to drive, but I adjusted to it and the overall performance was not hurt.

Drove a very consistent race lap after lap, the car was perfectly setup to my driving style, no issues with the walls today. The top three were crazy fast.
