Special Event: 2h @ LeMans

Despite going flat out without mistakes doing seven seconds slower laps than leaders I figured after half an hour that my time is better used by doing laundry and decided to retire.

Well i had a great 1st lap, lots of great action, but i hoped for some more racing :(

In the slowest lefthander Nuno lost control of his car, and catapulted it into me. I was thrown into those poles and ended up without a wheel and a dead engine :(. Race ended after half a lap. Frustrating, since i think i would have a nice race for a top5.

This is just a report, i dont blame Nuno, i know he would like to avoid this accident, but it was just impossible for anyone to save the car from that situation. So NP there Nuno, all part of racing.

i had very big drop in fps lost completely control of the car

did almost all race whitout a 6 gear

i had a great first lap, got up to 2nd after i bump drafted scott pass tristan.
but i slipped back to 3rd quite quickly and then i had spin after spin after spin :(.
then i just cruised to the finished and was stunned to see i sumhow i made it back to 4th :O
great fun but after about 45mins it did get very boring.

I was a little disapointed to see the Michaels tandom only got me to 2nd on the grid, 0.05 off of Tristan, but it turned out he was much the faster driver so I guess he deserves it. I kinda fluffed the start, but was running 2nd with Sam increadibly up to 3rd going onto the Mulsanne, and we craftily forged a bump-drafting plan to slip passed Tristan, which we did. I love it when a plan comes together! :D
From then until the first stop I tried to just keep Tristan behind, which I succeeded in doing. I went a bit longer on the first tank and assumed he would leap-frog me in the pits, but I short fueled and was able to get out a few seconds ahead, but out broke myself in Mulsanne and lost the place. I kept with him for a lap or two, but in the end he just had too much for me in all the wrong places, and I wasnt able to hold the draft, so at that point I pretty much settled for 2nd.
At the 2nd stop I filled right up so that I could short fill the last one and change only rears, to gain 10 or 15 seconds, but Tristan immediatley pitted too (stop and go I think he said), and at that point I pretty much had the win. He caught me at a pretty good rate, and I had one stupid spin in Indianapolis, but he never stood a chance of catching, so I cruised home. A nice race, but I'm really not too much of a fan of these cars, so hotlapping for most of the race was pretty boring. I'd race anything at this track, but I'm not sure I'd race these cars at any track.

My poor mapping of the pit speed limiter cost me the win.

Well done, Scott, the man who makes the fewer mistakes in a long race like this usually tends to be the victor.

Another two hours, though, and I might have caught up! Rrrgh!

Not a bad race at all. Qualed 3rd, surprisingly, and dropped back to 7th before the main straight just to be safe. Gained two more positions after Janko and Nuno crashed in Indianapolis and I started catching up to the front pack. I eventually latched myself to Sam and drafted with him for quite a while but at the same time, lost a lot to the aliens in the front. So, I just stayed with Sam for a bit until he eventually went off road and crashed in the esses part of the track and I found myself alone.

After stops, I was racing a bit with Tom. Once again, I was finally drafting with someone but started making mistakes and push me back quite a bit. I still was able to catch up to him after a while but continuous mistakes hurt me a lot and the car. Pit stops came again and I was able to pass him after the stop. Eventually he crashed later on so I was alone again. Fortunately, I never made another serious mistake again so I just cruised home in 3rd. Not too bad :).

Thanks for Barry setting this thing up and to Tim for keeping it going :). Hope we can do something like this again in the near future.

Joco, it was a great race, and just to rub it in, I just overtook you in the Sports Car rankings :P
