Sebring Camaro Cup 1

Had some crazy warping going on. I seem to always have that issue with this sim. I'm not sure how to remedy it.

Start sucked, and got gobbled up, ended up down in 6th, I believe. I was very hesitant due to the warp situation.

Anyhoo, sorry to Tobias, I may have screwed up his race, if that was him that ran into the back of me in the middle sector. Whoever that was, apologies.

I had a decent battle with Troy once things got settled down. I managed to finally get around, and was catching Jon , but then I proceeded to balls up the chicane. Had to wait for a pack of cars to go by so I was down in 8th.

Oh well. It meant I started on Pole for Race 2, I guess. I don't think I would have been able to catch Felipe at that point. So just brought it home.

This was kind of a last minute add for me. Been looking to do some Race07 events this season but I wanted to give it a shakedown first.

Qualified on pole for the first race but botched the start which sent me back to 4th by the first couple of corners. Worked up to 2nd and was hounding for the lead when I accidentally tapped Tobias in the rear going into the hairpin. I was carrying a lot more speed into the car corner than him and couldn't quite it slowed up in time. Apologies for that.

For the 2nd race, I started 8th and yet again, I botched the start (need to work on that). With cars all around me, I couldn't run my quick pace so I had to be methodical with my battles. First few laps I made up no ground. To make matters worse, a warped car popped right in front of me in turn 2 and I smacked it which sent me off track, across the grass island and nearly into a pack of cars. That was scary...I came back on track without crashing but I had a bit a damage. Eventually, I was able to gain some momentum and worked my way up to 3rd on the last lap and finished only a second away from 2nd. Fun and tough race...grats to Ryan on the win.

All in all, I am really impressed with the cars. Can't run the entire season but I'll definitely show up when I can. Just need to work on those standing starts...

P8 on grid was as quick as I'd gone, and made a great start - but too careful into T1 and for first part of 1st lap I basically went backwards. Car was too understeery into turns and under braking overseering - remedied on lap 2 with brake bias shift, but by then the damage re race position was done!

Had some great battles on track, particularly with Ryan Ansoon (again, we always seem to end up together), and with others too - very close but very respectful - good to see.

In the end I half span off the kerb onto the back straight and put the front end in the wall, losing 8 seconds to ryan and then had a battle with John Passmore and Alden Edwards - managed to hold them off and was catching the cars in front when I made another mistake when chasing Ryan Ansoon again.

P10 in the end. But I must say these cars may be a handful (oh yeah!!) but EXTREMELY FUN to drive!

So - it would be P10 on the grid for Race 2........(head to Race 2 report!).

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail I'll be better next race hopefully, didnt have enough practice in the car was a race of spins still I enjoyed it.
On to the next one where hopefully I can have a better setup and more time to learn how to drive this beast. :)

Prerace:
I got up this morning and saw this race at Sebring International. I like this track and hadn't tried the Camaro cup cars yet. I didn't have much time before qualifying. I was a bit worried as the cars were super fun but a bit challenging at the limit.

Qualifying:

a fast early lap saw me hold on for a second row start.

Race:

I was driving good but eventually made a mistake as I had closed up on Jon for second spinning the car and recovering to take forth. Good hard fighting... these cars are fun to drive especially here!

Fun first lap, battled Andy for the first and last thirds of the race. Almost caught me at the end! Thanks Felipe being patient and smooth passing us.
