AC Shelby Cobra
In 1964, the Cobra was tweaked to improve its performance. A 7 litre big block Ford V8 was crammed inside the car, and small suspension and chassis tweaks, including wider front and rear track/tyres were done to the car. It produced upwards of 400bhp in street car versions, and was highly sought after. However, very few 427s actually took to the track back in the 60's, as there weren't sufficient numbers at the onset for FIA homologation.
A perfect 50/50 weight distribution (without fuel) and wider tyres on both the front and back combine with the shocking 7 litre V8 mean the 427 is a race car to be respected. Watch out for how you put down the power though, and the added weight (an extra 40kgs) mean it doesn't brake quite as smoothly as its 289 sibling. The open roadster look means it suffers slightly on long straights due to less than optimal aerodynamics. - Jerry Chen
