Renault Alpine
The Alpine A110 was Renault's main sports car during the 60's and early 70's. Also known as the "Berlinette", this little rear engined French sports car got its claim to fame in the gravel. Entered as factory race car in several European rally events thorough out the early 70's, the Alpine won the 1971 Monte Carlo rally. It also won the 1973 World Rally Championship for makers, thus giving Renault the first manufacturer's title in World Rally Championship.
Incredibly light weight, a 5 speed gearbox, low center of gravity, and a decent 1600cc inline 4 engine combine to make the Alpine a fun ride. Drives just like you would expect a rear engined car, good acceleration, and lift off oversteer. Watch out to not over do the trail braking or get the rear loose, as the pendulum effect will toss the car around if you're not careful. - Jerry Chen
