The track is known as Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and it was the first track to have a corporation buy its naming rights. Located near Charlotte, North Carolina it’s considered the epicenter of the NASCAR world, with the majority of the teams having their base near the track. The 1.5 mile track was built in 1959, and it also houses a road course configuration, a kart track, a small oval between the front stretch and pit road, and another small oval and a dirt track outside the main track. The track hosts two Sprint Cup races per year, including the night’s Coca-Cola 600: NASCAR’s longest race of the year. It also hosted three Indy Car races, but only two were completed when 3 spectators were killed during Indy Car’s last race there in 1999. The current speed record is by Elliot Sadler at over 193mph.
