Brianza Florio is the semi-fictitious track that ISI brings to us in rFactor: semi-fictitious because while the layout doesn’t exist in real life it combines several pieces of the Autodromo di Monza, one of motor sport’s Grand Old Dames of race tracks. Florio runs the full length of the Grand Prix circuit, except that in the last stretch of the back straight before Parabolica, you join the old high speed oval in the back section via an access road. You therefore eliminate the slower Parabolica and replace it with the super fast, super banked last turn of the mythical ring that was discontinued in the 1960s. While a very similar Florio layout was used in the mid-1930s, the track in rFactor is a combined fiction of history and modern times. While today the banked oval of Monza is decaying and somewhat of a religious relic to enthusiasts, thanks to ISI and rFactor we can find ourselves racing on this legendary track. Brianza is the name of the Northern Italian region of which Monza is the main city.
